Last night, Desert Care Network was honored to receive the President's Award from the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented at the chamber's Installation and Business Awards Dinner in recognition of our longstanding support of community organizations. A big thank you to Palm Springs Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for their donation of 80 blankets and art therapy kits for patients at our Comprehensive Cancer Center. The kits were accompanied by handwritten Messages of Hope that will make a big impact on the families we serve.

Desert Care Network was proud to sponsor the 2024 Dr. Carreon Foundation Scholarship Awards event, where 66 students received nearly $180,000 in scholarships for college or trade school. One of those recipients was Raymond Ortega, who we hosted at our table along with his mom Gina Ortega, during the event held June 9 at Coachella Valley High School Auditorium. Congratulations to Raymond, who will attend COD taking culinary classes with his scholarship. Keynote speeches were delivered by Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez and Desert Healthcare District Board Member Leticia De Lara, who are both alumni of CVHS. What an inspiring event!

Thank you to the first responders who came by Desert Regional Medical Center to salute our staff on Friday -- capping off an amazing celebration of Hospital Week! For the big finale, hospital staff also enjoyed lunch on the Stergios Building patio with music, games and a chance to throw softballs at a dunk tank. Congratulations to our very own Deb Gruszecki who was named the "2024 Woman of Impact" for her fundraising efforts to support the American Heart Association in the Coachella Valley. Deb shared the story of how her grandmother died from heart disease, and how she drew inspiration from her father, who devoted his career to working for a medical device company that developed innovations in pacemaker technology. Thank you Deb, for all you do to support Desert Care Network and the American Heart Association.
