Even Leaders Need a Breather: My Escape to Find Peace
This week hit me like a ton of bricks. Being a leader, you're supposed to be the rock, the one everyone else leans on. But here's the hard truth - leaders can crack too. I found myself in the middle of a mental breakdown, proving that no matter how strong we're supposed to be, we all have our breaking points.
The Bible, doesn't shy away from the struggles of leadership. Take Moses, for example. In Numbers 11:14, he's overwhelmed, telling God, "I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me." If someone as great as Moses felt the weight of his role, it's okay for us to feel it too.
Feeling the need for some serious soul-refreshing, I decided to change my surroundings, inspired by Psalms 23:2-3 where it talks about being led to green pastures and beside quiet waters to refresh the soul. I needed to find my own slice of peace, a place where I could just breathe and not be 'the leader' for a moment.
I sought a place that felt a million miles away. This wasn’t about running away from my responsibilities but finding a space to heal and recharge. Being in a different environment, even just for a little while, helped me see things clearer and reminded me that it's okay to take a step back.
This weekend taught me an invaluable lesson - leadership doesn't make you invincible. We're human, and it's more than okay to admit when we're struggling. Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is take time for ourselves, finding our own green pastures and quiet waters where we can recharge.
So, to all my fellow leaders out there feeling the weight of the world, remember, finding a moment of peace isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s an act of strength. It means you’re getting ready to face everything with a renewed spirit and a clearer mind.
Good morning!
Embracing the Law of Addition: Putting Others First.
In both our personal lives and professional careers, there is immense power in prioritizing the needs of others. By embodying the principle of putting others first, we can create a positive impact and foster meaningful connections.
Personally, let's actively listen, offer support, and stand by our loved ones during challenging times. By being other-centered, we strengthen relationships, cultivate a sense of community, and find fulfillment in supporting others.
Professionally, let's embrace servant-leadership. Whether as leaders or team members, let's empower our colleagues, support their growth, and foster a collaborative work environment. By considering the needs of others, we contribute to collective achievements and create a culture of unity.
In customer-centric roles, let's go the extra mile. By genuinely caring, adding value to interactions, and building trust, we create loyal customers and a positive brand reputation.
When faced with challenges, let's take a moment to understand the perspectives and needs of others. By being other-centered, we foster effective problem-solving, promote teamwork, and create a harmonious work environment.
Let's embrace the Law of Addition: putting others first. By prioritizing the needs of others, we can create a positive impact, foster meaningful connections, and contribute to our collective success. Together, let's make a difference and inspire others to do the same.

The concept of Servanthood and leadership is based on biblical teachings found in the book of Mathew . The text contains several references and key points.
The passage begins with the reference "MATTHEW 20:25-28”.
Servanthood: Jesus Teaches That We Lead by Serving and Serve by Leading." This suggests that the main focus is on Jesus' teachings regarding leadership through servanthood.
The passage on Matthew 20:25-28, where Jesus addresses the disciples and their families' preoccupation with status rather than serving. Jesus contrasts his style of leadership with the world's understanding, emphasizing that true leadership involves being a servant.
The text mentions the Law of Addition, stating that leadership is about adding value to others rather than seeking personal perks or privileges.
It introduces the concept of a "leadership pyramid" based on the principle that as responsibilities increase, rights decrease. The pyramid represents one's life and leadership journey, with the base representing the beginning of leadership and the top representing increased responsibilities.
The passage further highlights the idea that as one climbs toward leadership in the church, rights decrease while responsibilities increase.
The text emphasizes the importance of surrendering personal rights and options as one grows into leadership. Servants, according to the passage, push for no options and assume no rights.
The passage concludes by stating that the younger one is, the more liberties they have in terms of time, vocabulary, money, etc. However, as they grow into leadership, they intentionally surrender those rights and options.
In summary, text provide a lesson on the concept of servanthood and leadership based on Jesus' teachings. It emphasizes that true leadership involves serving others and adding value to their lives, rather than seeking personal status or privileges.

True leadership is not defined by a title, butby the genuine care and compassion a person shows. People are more likely to follow someone who leads with their heart rather than someone who relies solely on their position.
“Stop talking, close your eyes and just listen”
As Leaders it's important to actively listen to our employees and colleagues. Sometimes, this means not interrupting or offering immediate solutions, but instead just listening with an open mind and without judgment. By closing our eyes and focusing solely on what the other person is saying, we can better understand their perspective, build trust, and foster stronger relationships. This can lead to better communication, increased collaboration, and ultimately, more effective teams.
Signs of bad leadership:
1. Lack of communication and feedback
2. Micromanagement
3. Inconsistent or unclear expectations

7. Blaming employees for mistakes without taking responsibility
8. Not respecting boundaries or personal time
9. Creating a toxic work environment
10. Lack of empathy or emotional intelligence
11. Bullying or harassment
12. Lack of trust or respect for employees
13. Lack of transparency or honesty
14. Poor leadership skills
15. Lack of vision or direction
16. Inability to make decisions or take action
17. Playing favorites or pitting employees against each other
18. Lack of flexibility or adaptability
19. Failure to recognize and address workplace issues
20. Inadequate training or development opportunities
21. Lack of support for work-life balance
22. Failure to provide opportunities for growth or advancement

A note to anyone who needs to hear it:
We don't "get over" or "move on" from our trauma. We are forced to make space for it. We carry it. We learn to live with it. And, sometimes we thrive in spite of it.
