When we took over the historic Taylor’s Refresher in 1999, the goal was to maintain the beloved roadside stand as an approachable, casual outdoor dining destination in Napa Valley. Twenty five years later, we’ve remained true to our no-fuss formula.
“We dug in and made American classics but with better ingredients and more swagger than what people were doing,” Joel says. “It completes Wine Country. We just fit this great niche.”

As a part of our walk down memory lane, we tapped a few of our great friends and longtime supporters to share their favorite Gott’s memory and, of course, their go-to Gott’s order. What’s yours? Share below if you’d like!
First up is , lifestyle expert, author and entrepreneur. Her parents founded in the 80s and she literally wrote the book on how best to enjoy wine country with her 2017 guide, From Napa with Love. Most recently she created combining old world stationery with new school tech.
“We kicked off our wedding weekend festivities at Gott’s — took it over and invited our out of town guests for burgers, wines, shakes and tunes. It always remains a favorite memory of a very special weekend.”

In 1999, Joel Gott and his brother Duncan bought the original Taylor’s Refresher, “a goofy little hamburger stand” and began flipping burgers alongside employees from their grocery store up the road in Calistoga (Palisades Market anyone?) and interns from The French Laundry. “We didn’t know a damn thing about running a restaurant and that was the brilliance of it.”
All things Ahi! 🐟 Our Ahi Poke Crispy Tacos and Ahi Burger are Gott’s favorite when it comes to elevate roadside fare. Have you tried them?
LOBSTER BLT 🦞 Our August anniversary specials are here and they are not to be missed! ICYMI we kicked things off with our Lobster BLT made with Maine lobster tossed with capers, green onions, dill and house-made lemon mayo, paired with heirloom tomatoes, little gem lettuce, and crispy bacon, all served on a butter-toasted sesame brioche bun.
