From patient-led innovation to FDA clearance: Tidepool Loop's incredible journey! 🚀

Born from DIY Loop, a community-driven iPhone app for automated insulin delivery, Tidepool Loop has a few big goals: interoperability and broader access, to name a few. We conducted a groundbreaking observational study with 1000+ DIY community participants, demonstrating safety & efficacy on an unprecedented scale. At last, in January 2023, we proudly received our FDA clearance.

Tidepool Loop exists in huge part because of community-driven progress - we couldn’t do it without you!

The theme of World Diabetes Day this year is “Access to Diabetes Care,” a message that hits close to home for Tidepool.

Since our founding in 2013, we’ve developed a suite of software tools to make diabetes data more accessible, actionable, and meaningful for people living with diabetes and their care teams. With ongoing updates to the Tidepool Data Platform to better serve our growing community of people living with diabetes and providers along with our work on Tidepool Loop for both iOS and Android, we remain committed to closing the gap in access to innovative diabetes technology within our community.

Our goal at Tidepool is to establish a seamless, cohesive care experience for people living with diabetes.

That’s why we’re kicking things up a notch for providers using Tidepool, with the Population Health Dashboard, single sign-on, and our latest addition - EHR integration. These features give each and every patient the personalized, streamlined care they deserve, but we’re not done yet.

We’ve all been there- avoiding new restaurants because you don’t know how long the food takes, or hesitant to give a full pre-bolus because your kid’s a picky eater.

Tidepool Loop changes the game as the first cleared system with a feature to lower your Correction Range and adjust your basal insulin before you eat. With the pre-meal button, you’ll be able to get insulin on board to help prevent a spike without having to fully commit to a carb count, and Tidepool Loop will work harder before you begin eating to help reduce a post-meal spike.
