Defensible space saves a home on Cohasset 08/07/2024

The Park Fire's immediate threat on Shasta County has retreated, but Fire Season isn't over yet. It is still very important to create and/or maintain defensible space around your home.

1. Remove flammable materials
Clear dead plants, grass, weeds, leaves, and pine needles from all areas within 5 feet of your home. Remove flammable items like furniture and planters from decks.

2. Prepare water sources
Identify and maintain water sources like faucets, hydrants, ponds, swimming pools, and wells

Defensible space saves a home on Cohasset Cameron and his wife fled to a friend's house, where they still are today, while they wait for evacuation orders to be lifted.
