So most of y'all know I'm a strictly soft plastics guy, no double troubles, no live bait! With that said a few of you probably know I'm prostaff for a few brands including D.O.A. Lures and STANK STICK as well as a few others. Well recently I received my STANK shipment and had a few bonus packs of TRIGGERED BAITS thrown in for me to test and review. Here is the comparison between one of my absolute favorites the D.O.A. 3" cal in #308 glow holographic glitter up top and the TRIGGERED Baits 3.8" swimbait in color glacier bay. Both are paired with the D.O.A. HotHeads in pearl a welcome addition to add eyes to a screwlock rig.The slightly larger profile is great, especially with the lengthened tail section, it should produce a bit more action at slow retrieves and on the fall. The density of the plastic itself is very similar which is important to me as the D.O.A. is very consistent to the density of an actual baitfish and the TRIGGERED Baits is just the same. The elasticity of D.O.A. isn't the best and the TRIGGERED Baits has some stretch to it. I also did a basic buoyancy test and the D.O.A. falls slightly faster then the TRIGGERED Baits which is likely only due to it being more compact in size but should be beneficial in some situations. Both brands fall face first naturally and lay flat on the bottom. All in all these I do believe are going to be a very welcome addition to my mix of tricks. If you're drooling and just gota have some to try yourself head on over to STANK STICK and hit the drop tab to find triggered Baits, be sure to use the promo code Tstprojd90 at checkout to save a little extra gas money!
I could possibly be the world's biggest procrastinator...Awhile back I announced a giveaway once I reached 250 followers. Well that time has come and passed and I'm finally getting to the part where I announce the winners. I chose at the time of posting that #250 would be a winner. #250 was Chip Sanders. I would also draw 2 others. I did this old school written and cut out mixed in a bowl, my 3 year old son pulled 1 and my wife pulled the other and those 2 winners are Hobie Dixon and John Tidwell. All 3 of the winners will be receiving 2 packs of DOA Lures a stick of STANK STICK and a Salty Swagger hat. Congratulations to each of you and thank you to my sponsors for their support in me and help with little things like this โค
Fished my day of the Sunjammers Redfish Challenge yesterday (day3). New format, you choose 1 of the 3 days to fish at time of registration. Best 2 fish limit to 27". The bite early was barely fair and only slowed as the day went. First 2 fish held the position๐ค Ole goldfish was not the smiling snack. Got chomped on pretty good, resilient fish for sure! From watching him cruise up on the DOA Lures 3" cal #308 glow glitter ๐ฅon the STANK STICK trail to the fight never knew till got in the net. He took off on release like he was ready to wrestle the shark๐คฃ Thankyou to all the participants and congratulations to Brad anthis on the 2nd place finish and Mike Spence on the 3rd place. It was definitely a struggle.
This redhead had all the attitude of a bull for sure ๐คฃ full beast mode in the wind.
Busy day for my page lol, it sure is nice to get rewarded for fishing!!! if your a Florida resident or on vacation and doing some fishing get the most out of your time on the water! Check out all the different programs offers. From several different slams to a list of reel big fish to life lists, and while your on a mission to chase the achievements if you pick a " trout, flounder or sheepshead get those pictures and help to sustain and grow a healthier population of the big fish we all want to catch by releasing the ones who matter most. It's not about the sticker though the stickers are welcome. It's about the message and encouraging others. Your trophy fish of a lifetime can be 5 other people's trophy fish of a lifetime aswell if we practice good fish handling and releasing. This aside from not wanting 5 hooks in my thigh with 1 attached to a squirming fish is a big part of why I use a single hook and soft plastics and even then I still get a few that won't survive, though it's rare that's when I bring home dinner. Note: my RO20" helmet decals in the trout pattern 13 on this side and 6 on the other awaiting 5 more + whatever else I can submit this month.
trout from the past few weeks x8 2 cover pics are the twin 25s
๐ another one!!! My best attempt at a +size slam to date!! (R-27,T-25,F-19) Got a late start yesterday, and just took it lazy and fished as the opportunities presented themselves. The relaxation was brief and replaced with some excitement when I spooked this big girl off the flat and she did the twister and smashed the 3" #308 glow glitter and you know I had it with the shad stick, that was almost as much fun as watching 3 full slot reds run off a deep flat with all the vigor of a shark to smash it too.Got a , a and a ๐คฃ either paddle the fish or let the fish paddle ๐คฃ that's +2 more for the and 2 more inshore slams also for a total of 8 RO20s and 3 slams in 3 weeks!!! Get out there!
Well I went and dusted off the ole trout ๐ฏ I'd say I hit the paper๐ the red bite was pretty slow for me in ..I even seen a red yawn at my lure as if to say "I'm tired of seeing all these lures"...true story ๐คฃ so I switched it up to see if I still had it. Between the 3" #308 glow glitter and the 4" #454 houdini + that stank slick from the I had the ammo for the range!
3 bullseye with a 4th lost 1 of which is equal to my pb, soo it was a pretty good day to managed to pull out a inshore slam too ๐ช
Final day of the April tournament, needed 1.5" to take back 3rd and I got it but the unfortunate happened, apparently somewhere along my travel to the launch my ketch board identifier decided it would fly away. Soo as I go to measure my first (20.5") of 3 this morning the first thing I notice is I don't have an identifier. I had to get something figured out so I pulled my sunjammers sticker off the and slapped it on the identifier velcro (wasn't the best but it worked) and without a pen or sharpie I had no way of producing the "sft" code which had me thinking soo I burned a tip of spartina and wrote it on my sleeve and made sure it was acceptable, that took about an hr out of my morning but I was set ready to get back at it, got another 20.5" which wasn't gonna help any and finally just before I got back to the launch I picked up a 23, the fish that woulda gave me back the 3rd place spot but of course the only clear pic I could get before he decided he was done hanging out, has my hand in it which I had forgot with all the monotony of identifiers we had gone to a no hands rule, but more than that I didnt get his whole tail in the pic๐ and even if I did I was still petting him ๐ช but it is what it is next time fellas
This trout was way to eager to play fetch and return the lure ๐คฃ
Photo dump!! Yesterday was ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ in a much improved day over the few short mornings and a long slow
12 +miles on Tuesday, yesterday was a nice change to the redfish that greet me with a nod as they glide by.
Though the fish I found weren't the top slots we all want right now for the tournament it was still a awesome day out on the Crescent Kayaks and the were on the buffet line, and the STANK STICK had them drooling. Even tricked a few trout to play. Pics are Tuesdays 3 and Wednesdays bunch, its apparent I missed a photo in editing, and the shorts don't get the board
Sooo I'm striking out hard on the redfish in this months . Yesterday morning was spent mostly paddling (wind has been brutal) and soo this morning I just couldn't locate the red variety but about 10 minutes before I needed to be in I saw this tugboat roll in and surprise surprise he straight beelined the 4" cal shad of course lathered in the really putting the curl in that lite blank and took me for a ride dodging a few bouys and steering away from docks. Thankfully the Crescent Kayaks ck1 is a stable platform, lifting a third my body weight into the kayak is a bit tricky ๐ค
Happy Earth Day- Protect Our Home ๐๐
Been waiting quite some time to reach 250 followers. It may not be a huge number with multiple zeros but it's a good start! Like I said I would, I will be gathering goodies and randomly choosing 2 winners, the 3rd winner is mr.250! (I have your name wrote down) I should have everything prepared to go by the end of this month soo be on the lookout for the announcement. I will be sure to get ahold of the winners at that time and make nessesary arrangements to meet or ship depending on location. Thankyou to all who have followed this page, I intend to have some good content soon!
Where I left off a few days ago till today, gel coated the resin work a few days ago ahead of the rain and to cure the resin went ahead and ground it back out yesterday morning and patched up the holes on the console, today I've prepped and recoated the last inside layer of the hull with a few small filler pieces and then one large piece about 8inches longer each direction but up then the whole repair to really tie in the support of the hull. Still have a day of rebuilding the lip edge but I've got a great idea to make that easy. Soo for the rest of the project today is to fiberglass in the plugs in the floor and glass the console to the floor. Maybe tomorrow I'll put the bow back on๐
Paddle vs. Peddle did it again! Despite the weather making for a crazy week of high winds and rain and having my best fish dq to start it off it's been tough to put it together. Fished some unfamiliar waters too and even managed to get 2 big shouldered overslots too, thoroughly enjoyed it and thankyou Sunjammers for putting this together. Ready for the next one. I couldn't have been beat by 2 better guys Paul and James thankyou for bringing the competition!
I love that our local group of kayak anglers can including myself can screw up the rules in the beginning of a tournament get dqs and bunk weather and still come out and be competitive, I want to win it everytime just as bad as anyone but I want just as badly to feel the pressure some of yall bring to the game, keep it up fellas
It's been awhile, wind and weather have made spending the money to go a hard call, starting the Sunjammers Week long Redfish kayak tournament with the morning planned to fish let's see what happens after a long break๐ค
What a way to kick off the new year! Started off with a blow out on the way to the water that just ruined all the enthusiasm I had at 6am. By 7:30 my Crescent Kayaks ck1 was on the water in Destination Panama City ๐ค I started with the goto's DOA Lures 3" and 4" cal shad 3" #420, 4" #454 with some eazy greazy STANK STICK after several spooks and the already down morning, I decided to make the effort to get my first red by fly rod and make something out of the day and the new year. I've been dabbling with the fly side here and there for about a year now and have a caught a few Release Over 20 trout but could never coax their cousin. Today not only did I meet a personal goal of a full slot for my first red by the ole one handed whippy stick but I got 2 back to back and 5 more from 18"-23" using a pink shrimp fly hand tied by my good friend and fly angler Daylin Pitts and that was by noon ๐
Bye bye buddy
Had just enough time to catch a fish this morning๐ค DOA Lures and STANK STICK never let me down!
Oh Oh Oh its almost time to find out what ๐
put under the ๐! Before he comes I took the time to pass out some ๐ 's. Soo i climbed aboard my Crescent Kayaks ๐ท and got straight to delivery! The DOA Lures 4" cal shad #454 houdini was the most requested chewtoy on the redfish wishlists this Christmas! ๐ฌ coated all the ๐'s for those girls and boys with a little STANK STICK magic that had them lit up early and my drag screaming with excitement. Merry Christmas Y'all!
I never ask for anyone to like or follow, but if fishing is one of your passions or priorities go ahead and give me a like or follow. Some content I keep exclusive to my page, not to mention I throw some tips and fishing knowledge around here and there and don't mind answering questions. As soon as I get to 250 follows i will be doing a nice giveaway as well as possibly doing some cool initiatives to get more interactions with my page. 2021 has been great and 2022 is going to be better as I continue on the road to turn my passion to profession. Thankyou to those of you that already follow me and thankyou to those that choose to in the future.
It was lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you! I forgot to bring a few things to really make the shot. I have a similar shot with a larger redfish, but this one was sooo eager to kiss me under the mistletoe and she made the shot great! I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas ๐ ๐
Had to pick up a few last minute gifts at Sunjammers salty santa sleigh shop! This year's been a rough one. There's a huge elf shortage and we just couldn't make enough gifts to supply everyone this year. Thankfully Sunjammers was there to keep progress afloat and save Christmas! They had everything from new sleighs to new shoes! I mean just look at the sleigh load of stuff ๐ and that crazy guy trying to impersonate santa, dude just wants some cookies๐คทโโ๏ธ or smores, they got those too!
Can I 1 up last year ๐ค just have to wait and see ๐
