Paradise Volunteer Fire Department
Paradise VFD. is a volunteer service, and we do our very best to protect the people and property in our community.
Just FYI - Have a wonderful Day!!
Today, we will apply Primer Oil on CR 3840, 3838 and Oates Rd. The oil will take 48 hours to dry. Signs will be posted, the speed limit during this time will be 5 mph.
We will proceed with the chip n seal process on these roads next week.
We will be testing the Emergency Warning Siren in town today at Noon. There is not an emergency IT IS ONLY A TEST!
**Traffic Intersection Updates:**
I wanted to update you on a couple of intersections that have been the sites of numerous vehicle accidents recently.
Following the May ESD 2 board meeting, I reached out to TxDOT and advocated for lighted "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs at the FM 920 and 199 intersection. That intersection had four major accidents in April alone. I am excited to report that the signs were installed right before the Memorial Day holiday. I appreciate TxDOT's quick response, and I will continue to advocate for a safety study to be conducted for more potential upgrades to the intersection.
The next update is at the FM 2123 and 51 intersection. We have been advocating and discussing this intersection for a long time, and I wanted to let you know that temporary caution traffic lights were hung this past week and should go live soon. Again, this is a temporary solution until the permanent turn lanes and traffic light are installed late next year.
As always, the biggest safety solution we can all make is to slow down and pay attention while driving. I will continue to advocate to TxDOT for safer roads and intersections in Wise County.

Checking the status of the burn ban and logging a controlled burn is easier than ever. To check the status of the burn ban on any given day, just call 940-627-5870 and press Option 4. The recorded line will tell you if the burn ban is on or off that day.
To log a controlled burn, just visit the link below and provide the relevant info. Then, first responders will know what is going on and what material is being burned if they get dispatched out that way.

TOMORROW!!! Hope to see you all there! Come have lunch with us and help us PUSH IN BRUSH 118!!!
THIS SUNDAY!!! HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE!!!
WE HAVE RESCHEDULED OUR PUSH IN CEREMONY FOR BRUSH 118 - Please Join us on Sunday, March 3rd from 12:30- 2:00 @ Paradise Volunteer Fire Department to help us PUSH IN Brush 118. We will be serving Hot Dogs and Hamburgers until we push the truck in around 1:30-2:00.
CALLING ALL OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS BIG AND LITTLE!!! We will literally be pushing the truck into the station!!!
A little about a Push Ceremony…
Beginning in the 1800s, after returning from a call on horse-drawn equipment members would have to detach the horses and push the equipment into the bay at the fire station. Over time, with the invention and adoption of motorized apparatus, the need to manually move the equipment was gone.
However, the legacy of the push-in was secured.
Now, in honor of those early crews, many fire departments hold a push-in ceremony when taking delivery of a new apparatus, as a symbol of good fortune for the crews and equipment housed in the department, often inviting community members to join in the “push ceremony” to celebrate the exciting moment the community “officially” puts the apparatus in service. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!!
The Fire Department will be TESTING the Emergency Sirens in the City Limits of Paradise on Saturday March 2nd @ Noon. THIS IS ONLY A TEST!! Pass along to your neighbors who may not have social media!

In February of 2015 Paradise VFD applied for a large brush truck grant from the Texas Forest Service. 7.5 years later, In October of 2022, we were awarded the grant! We have spent the last 13 months designing and having this truck built. The grant from the Texas Forest Service paid for 90% of the truck, we only had to cover the other 10%. We are very thankful for this amazing grant! We will put this truck to great use serving the community we love!
