Daily mental health check in:
Social media can be a powerful tool to stay connected with others while practicing social distancing. While social media can be a great way to stay in touch with friends and loved ones, it is important to be mindful of how social media use may be impacting you. Does social media use prevent you from connecting and being present with those around you? Keep in mind that social media posts are often one's "highlight reel". That is, you're likely seeing what others want you to see. It's ok if your meal doesn't look restaurant quality and Instagram worthy--it matters that you made a meal. It's ok if you didn't make a colorful daily schedule or fill your days with Pinterest crafts for your kids--it matters if you were present, connected and loving. Life is real-it's not always photo quality and beautiful. Sometimes it's messy and a bit chaotic. Struggles don't often last but the seeds that love plants do. While social media posts may look beautiful, they don't always reflect the real beauty in the things and people around us. -Sara Bates
