The bees are really making honey. Some of these hives are 8 honey supers high. This hive is so heavy that the pallet it is placed on has sank into the ground, causing the hive to list to the east. I am concerned enough, that I screwed my ladder to it, in order to stabilize the situation. Hope it works, I’m running out of ladders. lol

The honey harvest is on. The 3rd pickup load of honey supers on the way home to the honey house.

Our last day of harvesting wild rice, our best season ever, fitting that we finished out with a canoe full of rice. Moving on to harvesting honey from our bees, starting tomorrow.

We riced through the rain today, Brenda piled up the rice in the canoe, deeper than ever.

We found some ripe early rice. Our best first pick of the season, ever, 264 pounds. Great start, hope it continues.

Lots of veggies for the market this morning! 😀

Brenda & I made a quick trip to Wadena this morning at 05:30 hours, and rescued this swarm of bees. Only 7 feet off the ground, made for a quick capture and we were on the road in 15 minutes. Thanks goes out to the property owners, for letting us know about the homeless honey bees.

Come see us Saturday at the Fall Y’all Craft Fair at the Red River Event Center in Akeley this Saturday, Oct 1 from 10-3. It’s a great outside/inside craft fair with lots of vendors…we always do a lot of Christmas shopping there 😀. We will have our just-picked Haralson apples, zucchini and cucumbers, along with our honey & honeycomb, maple syrup & wild rice. Brett is also bringing some of his tanned beaver hides to sell.
