Dark Side Robotics
FIRST Robotics Competition team 7515 meets at the Waverly Activity Center in Parkersburg, WV.
7515 Dark Side Robotics is captain of a team with 4150 FRobtics and 4467 Titanium Titans at WVRox- will compete against the #8 alliance in the first elimination match.
Endurance robotics means that sometimes you get hit so hard multiple times while dangling from a chain that it starts to rip your bolts through your chassis.
Day 5 of Dark Side Robotics’s Mid-Ohio Valley RoboCamp with Discovery World! Campers finished building claws for their robots, then experimented with coding to pick up and move pop cans to different segments of the field- which took LOTS of experimenting.
All the robots and campers participated in a final “robot parade”, and we closed out the camp by disassembling our hard work.
Thanks to all the campers for attending and to the team members and mentors of Dark Side Robotics for your hard work this week! The team members did a great job stepping into the role of mentor for middle school students this week.
Dark Side RoboCamp at Discovery World Days 3 & 4: Students dug deeply into code, struggling several coding challenges across two days like "move forward 10 inches, back 200 millimeters, then drive until you stop 2 inches from the wall" in order to learn coding and using sensors.
They proposed their own game challenge ideas, learned a bit more about the FIRST Robotics Competition robots, and began building a claw on their robots.
Day 2 of Dark Side Robotics’s Mid-Ohio Calley RoboCamp at Discovery World:
Campers competed in time trials and robot soccer with the base bots, then customized their bots with their own modifications and competed to see whose mods would your compete and hold up best!
Dark Side Robotics’s Mid-Ohio Valley Robo Camp at Discovery World Day 1: campers created team flags, got introduced to robotics, and build their base robot! 🤖
Come join us at the Mid-Ohio Valley RoboCamp!
Discovery World and local FIRST Robotics Team 7515 Dark Side Robotics have partnered to offer a one-week hands-on robotics day camp at Discovery World in Parkersburg.
All STEM-interested 11-14 year-olds are invited to join the fun and learn about building and coding robots using VEX IQ robot kits. No prior robotics experience needed.
Over a span of 5 afternoons, mentors from Dark Side Robotics will guide the camp participants on a (robotic) voyage filled with fun team activities, robot construction, and coding challenges.
Campers will work in small teams to build VEX IQ robots, write code to autonomously operate their robots, and test their building and coding skills in friendly competition against other teams and their robots.
The camp will take place at Discovery World on Market (900 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV) from July 8th – 12th, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Camp cost will be $100, plus $20 for a camp t-shirt (bring t-shirt money on the first day).
Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out and register on the Discovery World website www.dwonmarket.org

Nothing like the last week before the first competition…
Robot-to-be-named is getting sassy.
We’re working hard over here to get the bot ready for the Girls of Steel week 0 scrimmage in Pittsburgh this weekend! Fingers crossed on some last minute fixes that need to happen today to be ready for Saturday. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
This is a very last minute offer, but sometimes people ask if they can order our shirts.
If anyone would like to order one of this season's Dark Side Robotics t-shirts before I place the order on Thursday night, you are welcome to. We have two designs (with sponsors listed on the back of both). If you'd like to order one, please message or comment with the shirt design (sheet music or band), the size, and quantity if more than 1.
Prices (they are different because of the amount of ink colors):
Blue sheet music: $22
Teal band: $25
I need ALL interested orders by Thursday at 8:00pm.
Progress!
After much hard work and drilling, motors are mounted, and the intake was built “round 2, now with loctite!”… AND we had an extra special guest visit from Cecilia, who happens to be an expert in many things including making clean, professional looking bumpers
Those six hour Saturdays are exhausting, but they’re also rewarding.
