With profound sorrow, the Province Lake Golf family extends heartfelt condolences to the Dube/Hayes family on the untimely passing of Tom Dube, a devoted club member, former champion, and tireless advocate. His kindness, generosity, and commitment to the club and local community organizations are deeply appreciated. While his numerous contributions are too extensive to enumerate, his selfless dedication to helping others will be fondly remembered. We offer comfort and solace to his family during this difficult time, honoring the lasting legacy he leaves through his loving family. May his memory continue to inspire.

Being a member can often be so much more than tee times and tournaments. Please see the message shared by one of our members below:

To My PLG Family,
I would like to sincerely thank everyone for your support and kindnesss over the loss of my Best Buddy Laura. To those who knew her, be it checking her in, golfing with her or enjoying a drink with her at the Bistro, knew she was a Sweetheart. She was a good person who loved being with people and loved to smile and say “Hi” to everyone. Your support during the last few weeks and to some the last 5 years did not go unnoticed as she battled Dementia with every bit of herself. Whether it was a card, a text, an email, a hug or a sharing of a perfect saying, they were all taken to heart by me. PLG Golfers have shown me it’s truly a PLG Family and I will always be thankful for the sweet, kind support shown to both my Buddy and I over the years.
Ginny

Your Ryder Cup organizer has spoken:

Okay fellow golfers the black and blues are coming but I’m not talking bruises. I’m talking about the Maine golfers in their black shirts and the New Hampshire golfers in their blue shirts. It’s the 9th annual Ryder Cup! Maine has won 7 years, with one tie, so they retained the title that year. We only have records of 7 years, so not sure of the other year. Monday will be tee times starting at 9:00 and Tuesday is a shotgun starting at 9:00, followed by a reception. Most are returning golfers, there are a few new ones,if you are unfamiliar with the formats or rules you can either come early to talk it over with Connie and myself or just as one of the veteran players. Pretty much most foursomes have just that. The scorecards will be in the carts along with the local rules. Anything that has to be decided that day i.e. lift, clean, and place will be posted at the desk when you come in. Good luck to both states and get in touch with Connie and I if you have any questions. Formats are Foursomes (Alternate shot) front 9, with this format you do not have to play your teammates actual ball, mark it and put your ball in that same spot and use your own if you want to. Decide before you play who is driving on the odd holes and who has the even holes. Back 9 is Best Ball. Tuesday is 18 holes of Match play.

Pairings will be posted once the secret vault is unlocked.

Thanks to great players, great sponsors, friends, strangers and a fantastic Pro Shop team The Orange Ball Tournament to benefit the National MS Society is full. We have all our player spots filled and all but three holes sponsored. It's going to be a fantastic fundraiser for a cause very important to me!

We sadly lost not only a familiar face but a wonderful person. Laura was a regular face here and at our restaurant, always kind and friendly. We are all sad to hear of her passing and the hole she will leave in many lives with her wonderful presence. Fly high sweet lady!

What a great day we had yesterday with our members in the course competing for the championship titles.

The key to any successful event is the participation of our members.

Thank you to Sue in the Pro Shop and Pat Collins for outlining the event and all the members for playing pretty darn well. Many matches were only a couple strokes apart.

Our Men's Gross Champion is Barry Smith, a second time Club Champion, Men's Net is long time member Peter Conti and the Senior Division was taken by the incredible Dick Grant, a fountain of youth who brought home another title.

Betsy McDowell showed strong on the course and retained her Women's Club Championship in the Gross Division and Pat Collins joined her as the Women's Net Champion.

A cocktail reception for the player's was held after in our Clubhouse.

Thank you all for the hard work, great sportsmanship and time to make this a successful club event.

Coming up we have the Orange Ball MS Tournament (calling players and sponsors to round out the day) and The PLG Ryder Cup (can New Hampshire pull it off or will Maine remain the Champion like they have been for years and years and years and years and years).

We hope to see 10 more teams for the Orange ball and there are still member slots open for the Ryder Cup so see the Pro Shop. The Orange Ball finished the day with it's tradition of a Lobster Bake and a cocktail reception will be held in the Club House after the Ryder Cup!

From our mixed league ladies....

Hi gang,

First of all I would like to congratulate 2 of our players for their wins in the club championship today. Betsy won the ladies gross & Dick won the seniors. Runnersup in the divisions were Laurie for ladies gross, Ray for the seniors, Connie for the ladies net. We all had a good time in the eventl

On to mixed league - this week we'll be playing the back so the game will be 2 low nets. Each player plays their own ball as usual & records the net. The score will be the lowest net of the A&C players (1 score) for each hole & the lowest net of the B&D players (1 score) for each hole. For the 2 3 person teams, we'll be doing a blind draw & Ginny will be scoring as she normally does. Competition holes will be CTP on #14 and LP on #17. As you all may know I try to change people around so hopefully you're not playing with the same people all the time but now that we've played so many weeks it happens. Also I try to keep the handicaps close on the teams so juggling sometimes keeps people together - sorry for that. If there's someone in particular you'd like to play with please let me know & I'll try to arrange. See you all on Thursday!

Happy Saturday Golfer Friends.

The downpours last night have knocked a power line down somewhere (not a shocker out here in the woods). Our generator did not startup (you know what they say about luck) however we are still open (ahh, this will be interesting) though are computers are down and our tee sheet access is cloud based (oh gripes) and our cable based phones are also down (c'mon...give me a little break).

We will be open this morning and will accept cash or credit card payments (cash rocks for all of us). You can still email us regarding tee times ([email protected]) as our tiny little sliver particle itty bitty piece of cell service our here will allow us to access email (gotta love the boonies).

As of now our first open tee time is 11:52am.

We hope to see you, we will be outside rubbing sticks together to start and fire and get warm while we catch rain drops for drinking water.

Some words from the Princesses of Putting:

Ginny is promoting the spirit of the Olympics!

The PLG Olympians were out in the heat performing what they have trained for most of their lives. Well maybe not a whole lot of training and probably just the later part of their lives, but nonetheless they did well representing their countries. Ireland was the big winner today with a low gross, low net and 3rd place finish. England managed to get the Longest Putt and 2nd and 3rd place finish. Greece was represented and accomplished Closest to the Pin. But USA was the big winner most of all!! It's a nation of all but all are Americans. Sorry, my keyboard broke and I am doing this on my Iphone so it will be brief and that is a win for all of you!!

We were thrilled that member Debbie Kingsley sunk a Hole-In-One last Monday, even more so that it was during the annual Ladies of the Lake Invitation. An entire round of drinks was provided by Mrs. K during the post tournament luncheon. Go Debbie!
