A sacred day. 9/13.

Blessings on this sacred day, Friday the 13th.

"Some people fear Friday the 13th, yet in many indigenous cultures such as the Maya and Mexihca, 13 is considered holy and representative of accomplishment, mystery, higher consciousness, ancestral memory, and wisdom. It has profound associations with the feminine in cultures with a lunar calendar. In the Mesoamerican healing system, there are 13 lunar cycles and 13 major joints in the human body, 13 heavens that are associated with 13 levels of consciousness, and men and women are considered to have reached elderhood at age 52, the completion of a cycle of four rounds of 13 years each.

If one looks closely at the shell of Turtle, one can see that it is divided into thirteen large central plates, which represent the thirteen moons of the lunar year — if you count the smaller segments around the lower edge of the shell, you will find there are 28, which represents the 28 days between new moons hence the profound connection of women with Grandmother Moon."

Honor yourself and your connection to the earth and sky.
Take time to remove your shoes and sink your feet into the grass and earth. Feel the blessed energy of our earth mother rising from your soles into your body and expanding into your spirit.

It's important to remember that different cultures and societies have unique calendars, each serving specific cultural and ceremonial purposes that reflect their understanding of time and nature.

Thank you, Maestra. ❤️🌿

"True belonging is the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness in both being a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness. True belonging doesn't require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are."

Because his only strategy is to insult, i don’t want to play his tired game and insult him in response. How can his overt anger, blaming, martyrdom and victimization be the future of the USA? So, he’s the example? We’ve been living this way for a long time.

Blaming the immigrants (willing or not) or blame the natives? I am the firstborn of an immigrant who walks with European and indigenous roots—and a smattering of other influences. There can be a number of lonely firsts when you’re the first born. I think I might have been 5 years old when I learned that if I wanted community, I needed to fit into a hierarchy.

Regardless that I was a first generation with a white parent, I observed mocking from others because of accents, racism and bullying, people passed up for jobs and being uninvited to social events.

It’s not easy walking/crawling without the skills of discernment. The goal seemed to create a scenario where immigrants and natives (ergo people who were different in looks and thooght) will have less strength because they’re unwelcome to a vital community. This is especially, difficult because community heals. Some of them, if light skinned enough, or think they are, didn’t want to be victims/different anymore, so they joined the bullies, unaware that there are other paths to take.

I am exhausted after watching this debate. I wonder what I was hoping to see? I saw him
flounder and thought I would enjoy it. But, I didn’t. We don’t have to live in a constant state of giving and receiving abuse for the rest of our and our descendant’s lives. Please vote!!!

Thank you to my friends for hosting. I felt much community being with you today. Thank you. Love you.

4 years ago, I planted little Lucy in an area that wasn’t working. I tried to help her and then I decided it was time to say goodbye, that perhaps she was through. The day I was geared up for that, I noticed these wee green nubs of hope, which she’s sdisplayed before but obviously was struggling. So, instead of the compost bin, she has a new loft with a direct view of the sun. May Lucy thrive and bloom as fully as she desires.

Incredible art by Soni López-Chávez.

Here’s to tending our scars.🌿🩵

"The grandmothers say that when a cut isn't healed right, it becomes infected, and even if there's later a scar, the skin that lines it will always be frail.

"Mejor abrir la cortada otra vez y limpiala bien, darle poquito aire para que esta vez si se cierre y se sane." [Better to open the cut again and clean it well, give it a little air so that this time it closes and heals.]

That's where it begins, the ceremonial path, when you see your heart, body, and mind's scars and decide that you're brave enough to look at them, maybe pry them open again, and clean them with mint and lavender so you heal correctly. Some of those scars happened when you were a baby. Some while you were in your mother's womb and some of them even before that."

Sage Babies!

Nearing midsummer—a time for gathering and wrapping the elder medicine, pruning, cleaning and clearing. This makes way for the very ready, new growth, which, if left as is would be stunted for the next season. With the sun on my shoulders early this morning, I smiled while feeling purposeful, tending along with the cycles of their lives.

This night owl was up before the bees today! WTH?! For the first time ever, I awakened at 3:30am with the incredible desire to…work with the garden. (What were you thinking?)😂

I encouraged myself back to sleep and awakened a few hours later with the same feeling. Once I walked outside, the essential oils from White Sage, Rosemary and Artemesia were rising hypnotically, mixing with the air and leftover droplets resting on the leaves (since I hand-watered last night.) I pruned, gathered, repotted, pulled yellowing leaves and located a special space for morning meditation. Crow flew over with a comedic caw. After about 90 mins, immersed in the quietude, a solitary bee buzzed over to Lavender and gently awakened me from this gardener’s trance. I observed this early bird of a bee and felt connected as two souls licking up the day’s first nectar. Feel free to reach out if you’re in need of a homegrown sage bundle

Ho'oponopono 06/21/2024

In the usual manner of coincidence and serendipity, a number of friends in the last month have talked about the beauty and simplicity of the Ho’oponopono prayer. In my researching it, I happened upon this song from 2019. Sharing along as much seems to be felt these days.
