Unity of Pasadena
Creating Community ~ Living Love ~ Teaching Truth ~ Serving Spirit Unity began about a century ago with Charles and Myrtle Fillmore.
Here are the basic ideas that make up the Unity belief system:
1. God is absolute good, everywhere present.
2. Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are inherently good also.
3. Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thou

"I believe in GOD, the LIVING SPIRIT ALMIGHTY; one, indestructible, absolute, and self-existent CAUSE. This ONE manifests ITSELF in and through all creation but is not absorbed by its creation. The manifest universe is the body of GOD." ~ Adapted from Declaration of Principles by Ernest Holmes
"In the stillness of your presence, you can feel your own formless and timeless reality as the unmanifested life that animates your physical form. You can then feel the same life deep within every other human and every other creature. You look beyond the veil of form and separation. This is the realization of oneness. This is love." ~ Eckhart Tolle
Rest in God, knowing God rests in you.
I Am There On August 7, 1971, the poem “I Am There” was famously carried to the moon by Apollo 15 astronauts James B. Irwin, David R. Scott, and Alfred M. Worden. Stored in a microfilm file, the poem was intended to be left there for future space explorations.
"Your soul is who you are in God and who God is in you. We don’t make souls, we awaken souls." ~ Richard Rohr
Lover and Friend are one being,
and separate beings too,
as the polisher melts in the mirror’s face.
~ Rumi, The Book of Love

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
(Prayer for Peace)
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
(Q: Do you want to receive?)
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
(Q: Do you want to be pardoned?)
And it is through Grace that
We are given eternal life.
Unity Principle #3: Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its activity in thought.
“The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of the state of your mind.” ~ Wayne Dyer
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” ~ Wayne Dyer
"To successfully open the door to heightened awareness, we must open it inward." ~ Wayne Dyer

"That's what integral work is all about: Let's just take a look at these things, lay them on the table and pick the stuff out that's true, and see if we can't utilize it to make our life better." ~ Rev Greg Dorst
"The Second Pillar [of ministry] is a recognition that individual and collective consciousness goes through various stages of unfoldment. When it comes to facilitating unfoldment, "one size does not fit all" and it helps to have a structured, holistic, mission centered approach that meets the needs of these various stages and looks at ministry as a whole living system."
"Nobody is smart enough to be wrong all the time." ~ Ken Wilber
The three faces of God are all equally valid, equally important, and equally necessary.

Everybody says "the faith of a mustard seed is just a little bit of faith. All you need is just a little bit and you can move mountains--it's that powerful!" But what Jesus said really means, this mustard seed? It knows what it is. At its core, it knows what it is. A mustard seed is not going to come up as a tomato plant. It knows its authentic self. That's what this faith of a mustard seed is all about. The authenticity of who you are is the important aspect of faith. ~ Rev. Greg Dorst, Unity of Pasadena
And Jesus said unto them, "Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, ‘Remove hence to yonder place,’ and it shall remove. And nothing shall be impossible unto you." ~ Matthew 17:20
I AM the Light Claiming the Light—a Work in Progress As I consider the power of light, I remember a cold, dark October night in a small town on Long Island—a town in which I was a visiting stranger. I still recall the feeling of roaming up and down the confusing streets, looking for a light. My life to that po...

When you pray, when you say, "Let there be light," what you're doing is not begging God--some outside entity--but you're allowing yourself, "letting" yourself, be available to this light. "Let there be light" is allowing the light that already exists to be recognized within you. ~ Rev. Greg Dorst, Unity of Pasadena
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." ~ Matthew 5:14–16
The paradigm of God outside of us is one that many people get stuck in. They're always looking for something outside of themselves to fix themselves. As we in Unity know, this is an inside job. The inside light transforms us and that transforms the exterior world. So, as we change internally, our world changes externally. We understand that process, "As within, so without." The change that needs to be made happens within you first. And once that change is made, things can be accomplished in your life." ~ Rev. Greg Dorst, Unity of Pasadena.
"And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, 'The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say Lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you." ~ Luke 17:20-21
