My granddaughter was invited to a princess party. A pretty blue dress was secured. I suspect it resembles one of the character dresses in the Disney film “Frozen.” The pretty blue dress needed to be worn prior to the party – I am told that is what little girls do. This lovely blue dress looked great on her all blue and dressy with tons of little blue sequins – “pasted” not sewn on it. She looked so cute as she floated through every room in the house, dropping tons of little blue sequins all over the place. Now as I move through the house, tons of little blue sequins have married themselves to all the horizontal surfaces. Did you know they – the sequins “wink” at you? And when you reach down to retrieve them, they disappear. Repeat process to re-harvest them. The reason behind this story, as I thought during the “harvest,” how awesome it was that every time I reach down to retrieve one of the tons of little blue sequins, I think of my granddaughter. What a sweet remembrance. Now, what would happen if each of us left tons of “little blue sequins” – gifts/services/thoughts/kindnesses/remembrances behind each of us out in the world? Creating fond memories, assisting hope for those who find them. We would be sharing The Light. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Every time you left a sequin for someone, they remembered how important you made them feel. “Someone remembered ME!” Simple process and it does not need to be complicated or expensive or with a ton of thought. Just something of YOU, you left shared. This Christmas Season leave sequins somewhere! – Nathan Seamons (edited with permission)

Just a reminder Pasadena Stake Evening in the Los Angeles Temple tonight. An early attender noted the day is beautiful. ♥️
Prayers for our dear prophet.
Dear brothers, sisters and friends, we have the cherished opportunity this coming weekend to attend or watch our semiannual general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! General conference weekends are two of my favorite weekends of the year. How I love meeting in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City with all who gather there.
This weekend, however, I will be watching general conference through technology just as most of you will. Three weeks ago, I fell and injured the muscles in my lower back. This episode has reminded me of the reality that things sometimes change quickly in our lives. This photo of my counselors and me was taken at the celebration of my 99th birthday. Two days later, I fell.
Thankfully, my healing is progressing. But as my physician says, “We don’t have much data on how 99-year-olds recover from an injury like this one, so I am prescribing a slow, careful approach to healing so that you achieve a full recovery.” Having prescribed just such a course of action for many of my own patients years ago, I feel duty-bound to follow doctor’s orders.
I am still not able to sit in a chair for long periods of time. However, I am hoping to record my general conference message and look forward to participating in this marvelous October 2023 general conference through technology.
I pray that each of us, wherever we may be, will approach this sacred weekend with our hearts full of gratitude for the privilege of hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed by His servants. May this general conference be a time of joy and spiritual rejuvenation for you. I know that it will be for me!
We listen to a prophet’s voice and hear the Savior too.
With love he bids us do the work the Lord would have us do.
The Savior calls his chosen seer to preach the word of God,
That men might learn to find the path marked by the iron rod.
2.In ev’ry land, in ev’ry tongue, our prophet will be heard;
How swiftly round the world his voice reveals the gospel word!
The sacred message that he brings will witness and agree
With ev’ry prophet called of God throughout earth’s history.
3.Hosanna! Let our praise ascend unto the Savior’s throne;
Rejoice! The prophet has confirmed that by Him we are known.
Attend, ye earth! The prophet speaks; come listen and obey.
He is the man who holds the keys of priesthood pow’r today.
We Listen to a Prophet’s Voice

I have reflected many times on the miracle of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. Today we commemorate the 200th anniversary of the angel Moroni’s first visit to the Prophet Joseph Smith. What a remarkable visitation this was! Moroni was a messenger sent from God to teach Joseph Smith about the work that God had for him to do. Moroni became one of Joseph’s major tutors.
On his first visit, Moroni told Joseph Smith that “there was a book deposited, written upon gold plates, giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent. … the fulness of the everlasting gospel was contained in it, as delivered by the Savior to the ancient inhabitants.”
Joseph Smith translated this ancient record “by the gift and power of God.” This record is known today as the Book of Mormon.
I cherish the Book of Mormon and the opportunity to study its teachings. It is a thrill to invite visiting dignitaries to learn of its profound teachings of Jesus Christ.
The true value of the Book of Mormon can be summed up in the words of a man I taught many years ago in Accra, Ghana.
This man was a serious student of the Bible and one who loved the Lord. I explained to him that after the Savior’s Crucifixion and Resurrection He came to the people of ancient America to whom He taught His gospel.
Together, he and I read the Savior’s sermon to the people of the Americas. I then presented a copy of the Book of Mormon to him, to which he said:
“You could have given me diamonds or rubies, but nothing is more precious to me than this additional knowledge about the Lord Jesus Christ.”
On this 200-year anniversary, I ask each of us to consider: What is this book worth to you? If you were offered diamonds and rubies or the Book of Mormon, which would you choose?
I testify that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God. It contains the answers to life’s most compelling questions. Its truths have the power to inspire, comfort, restore, strengthen, console, and cheer our souls.
It is my hope that each of us will see this book, today and always, as it really is: more precious than all the riches in the world.
