How to Organize Your RV January 24, 2022January 24, 2022 by NonnahsNo Comments Have you ever tried to downsize your home? It is an overwhelming task – so hard to know where to start! I experienced this overwhelm firsthand when my husband and I decided to live in an RV indefinitely during that first summer of the pandemic...
Relieve some of your last minute cooking and grocery shopping stress.
If you make homemade baked goods, you can make some of those ahead of time and freeze them.
Casseroles, cookie dough, pie dough, homemade sauces, soups and stews, and pound cakes all freeze very well. 🎀
What could you cut from your schedule this month to make room for some holiday fun?
Nonnahs is cutting out Money Mondays (budgeting and balancing finances) to write Christmas cards during that time; and one monthly meeting to add Cookie Day! (pictured)

Here are some of my "Get Organized for Holiday Hosting" tips from a CNN article this week 😁
1. Get your guest room ready for your mother-in-law. That way, no matter who else shows up, it will be up to s***f!
2. Declutter and stock any bathroom your guests will use.
3. Organize and declutter your mudroom or entryway and, if you are having a party, your coat closet.
4. If you are hosting a party or large meal, get the shipping boxes and detritus off the table and out of your dining room now.
5. If your WFH office is currently on the dining table, find another stop-gap place to work for the day of your event (maybe the day before and after as well). Pretending like you won't do any work for 24-76 hours is setting yourself up for producing sloppy work and/or being very grumpy and resentful.

Nonnahs has a lot to say in this interview from Jolie Kerr for CNN. There are a lot of product recommendations. But mostly, read for the tips.
How to organize your home for the holidays | CNN Underscored We spoke with experts about how to get organized before the busy holiday crush begins, how to use time management and organizational strategies to buy back time and what products can have a big impact when it comes to staying organized this holiday season.
Remember how crazy the holidays were before the pandemic?
Remember how we all said we'd try not to go back to feeling so stressed and hectic?
Remember the articles explaining how women do all of the emotional labor in a family?
🦃 This holiday season is your chance to change up the traditions at your house. If there is a dish you have always struggled to make, or a tradition that stresses you out, find a way to drop that responsibility, or at least drop part of it. Pass it on to someone younger who still cares what everyone thinks of him!
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Think about this now so you are prepared to delegate the task, or offer a caring, honest response about why you aren't doing it this year.
Be mindful about what traditions you don't want to bring back and just say no.
Ask your partner and older kids the same question. If they want to have homemade cookies, they can make them! You may be surprised by what they don't want to continue doing either.

She can delegate everything else, just make the rolls! 🍞 ❤️
Oh-eM-Gee I love parties! 🎉 Do you?
I love to go to them; and I love to throw them. There are great things about doing both.
💃Attending a party is logistically easy. All you have to do is get yourself there and sometimes bring a gift.
🏠 Hosting means a lot more money, time, and effort. True. But! It also means you will love every single person you talk to, every food that is served, and every song played. It’s a control thing. Most people love having control of things. So let’s be honest about that aspect of hosting. People who throw parties are exercising their desire for control; or at least their desire to not drive anywhere for an evening. 😆
Good for us! 👏
Once I decide to host a party I could spend MONTHS thinking about it --getting excited, and coming up with a theme, a menu, and a playlist. Who will come? What introductions and connections will be made? What kind of party will it be? For me the planning is almost as fun as the actual event!
That isn't true for everyone though. Maybe months of planning sounds ridiculous and stressful. Maybe you have a demanding job, 3 kids and your parents to take care of so there’s not enough room in your head for more than a few hours of event planning.
No problem. You can still host a fun event.
Start small with a few close friends who can each bring something to eat. Or you can order a few pizzas and salads then make a cake. What if you decorate the cake at the (small) party, all together!?
Or skip the cake and eat cookies!
The brilliant part about being a host is you are free to NOT incorporate any party elements which you don’t love. Isn’t that great?
Lots of people have the same party for the same holiday every year --a great way to take the pressure off by minimizing your party-planning decisions.
Do you have party plans this weekend? Next month? Do you love the planning?
Are you flailing around trying to find a post-pandemic groove?

Getting Back to Life (sort of) with Batching Grouping similar tasks together --often called batching-- can help you find your productivity groove again.
Jody is one of the greatest party guests I’ve ever met; she talks easily to everyone and laughs a lot. When she called me to express her hesitations about throwing a party I was saddened, but not surprised. So many people are scared to have friends over, and most of their fear comes from inexperience.
Jody called me because I have years of hosting experience. Parties are my passion because I believe inviting people into our homes will solve many of our modern societal problems. Sometimes I even think throwing parties will save the world! I’m committed to helping friendly people get over their fear and put out their welcome mat with confidence.
Here are Jody’s specific hosting concerns (all very common) which I will answer in this series of posts for the holiday season.
“Give me a timeline for the week before the party, otherwise I feel panicked the entire time!”
“Give me checklists: What kind of wine? How many non-alcoholic drinks? How much beer? I always go shopping and buy 3 kinds of beer and so much of it! As though everyone at the party will only drink beer. It’s way too much beer.”
“How much stuff do I need?”
“How clean does the house have to be? Martha Stewart says clean the guest bathroom and the kitchen floor. How can that be enough? Is she right?!”
“Who do I invite? If I have people who don’t know each other, what is the best type of party to serve as an introduction for them? How do I deal with offending our friends or neighbors who don’t get invited?”
“How do I get people talking about not-boring stuff?”
“How do I handle our friends who don’t RSVP? People! How am I supposed to plan if I don’t know how much stuff to get because I don’t know how many people are coming? It’s crazy!”
Stay tuned to this FB page and our instagram page for specific hand-holding about how much to buy and how many people to invite. My tips make hosting an event much less daunting.
It's party season!

Donation sites are overwhelmed with trash after the pandemic.
Goodwill stores have a message: Please stop donating trash Broken furniture. Flashlights with leaking batteries. Disfigured Barbie dolls. Across the country, thrift stores have been flooded by household items, the offerings of people who have been homebound for months and are eager to clear out some of their possessions.
