Bolton & Company was founded in 1931 by Dorance Bolton as a humble operation in Los Angeles. This small firm continued to develop and grow and eventually became a family business around the 1960s. That’s when Dorance was joined by his sons, Jim and Bill. Working alongside their father, the two brothers would soon transition into the firm’s owners in the 1970s. Seeking to grow the organization, Jim and Bill began to lay the framework for what would become one of the largest independent California insurance brokers.
Beyond growth, Jim and Bill were committed to the development of best practices within the company and always sought out new and better ways to do business—a philosophy we continue to uphold. In 2003, Jim and Bill, much like their father, transitioned Bolton & Company over to the firm’s next generation of leadership: its employees.
