In “March 1”, Sergei Oussik aptly captures that strange yet wonderful time of year when spring struggles to reveal itself. The crispness of this artwork remains fresh as he capably maneuvers his medium, pastel.

Classically trained and after a lifetime of work, Sergei is beyond accomplished as an artist. In early 2022, his 87 painting exhibit in the Millennium State Concert and Exhibition complex in Yaroslav was met with overwhelming accolades and recognition by international critics and collectors while his exhibits from Paris to Athens have wowed art lovers for decades. His new book is available for pre-sale although currently we’ll have to wait a bit to enjoy it.

“Paris Winter” by Eugene Galien-Laloue. ✨ Coming home from Palm Sunday service this year, I handed Jimmy our blessed palm leaf and p***y willow. He thought the best spot to place them would be atop of one of my favorite paintings! The combination of the two reminds us of the unpredictability of spring and the great anticipation with which we await. To learn more about this piece, contact us. ✨

Thank you Yelena Popovic for this beautiful lenten gift! Working with artists for almost 40 years and supporting projects from inspiration to fruition, I have some understanding of the journey and what this has meant to you. Through this medium, you have successfully touched in viewers a myriad of basic human emotions. The movie sparks the desire for peace, the joy felt only by Christ's love, sorrow, pity and frustration towards those who wrong us, the deep pang of injustice, the desire to fight for truth as well as knowing when to be quiet and still, the need to examine ourselves, to grow in humility, in true forgiveness, to trust in our Creator and in His providence and ultimately the knowledge that there is so little joy in this earthly life as compared to what awaits us!

Every human being can identify with some aspect of this saint's life...and that's the point isn't it? Having introduced many people to a new friend, the movie has single handedly impacted both believers and non believers, Orthodox and non-Orthodox this lenten season. A wonderful example of using the gifts God has endowed you with to serve Him. An inspiration to young people that anything is possible. A beautiful tribute from a mother's heart. I write these words not to praise you but to encourage you to continue.
We thank God for this blessing, for the struggles which brought you to St. Nektarios and that you have found your journey to Christ through His holy church.
Congratulations on this egoless labor of love. May our beloved Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos and St. Nektarios be with you and your loved ones always.

For those who haven't seen it yet, one more showing...for now...

Monday, March 28th nationwide!

Man of God | Fathom Events  Exiled unjustly, convicted without trial, slandered without cause. MAN OF GOD depicts the trials and tribulations of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, as he bears the unjust hatred of his enemies while preaching the Word of God.

This piece by Ted Goerschner (1933-2012) captures the beauty and stillness of an early morning – the quietude of the breaking day…the early morning hours often dedicated to contemplation or meditation or prayer...the quiet before the city awakes. While the bold brushstrokes, movement and action of the piece are almost a contradiction to the peaceful mood which he created. Join our newsletter to learn the stories behind pieces like this.

What makes a notable woman?

"Unsentimental Journey" is a book written and illustrated by Nora Lucy Mowbray Cundell (1889-1948) who inherited her artistic genes from a notable line of British artists. Born in London, of all places she was drawn to the American Southwest, Arizona and Colorado specifically. In her book published in 1940, she recorded her travels throughout America, from coast to coast, with occasional stops to go hunting on horseback or visit a rodeo!

Courage, fortitude, strength, sensitivity...all part of what makes a notable woman...in this case, a notable female painter.

Often we recognize markers we love but know little about them. This lovely original watercolor, circa 1940’s, depicts the Place de la Concorde with the Obelisk of Luxor which once marked the entrance to the Luxor Temple. It was a gift to Charles X and France in 1831. Join our newsletter to stay in touch and check out our website for more information. https://www.gabrie.com/

We never argue...about how to hang paintings that is! Hanging art is tricky. When it's done well, you don't even notice (that's a good thing!). When it's done poorly, something feels off...the room can seem shorter, not balanced or disheveled. Go to our website to learn more about the services we provide, and swipe to see this project’s final result. Installations are an everyday part of what we do at Galerie Gabrie. We consider it a courtesy of the gallery knowing that no transaction is final until that painting is hung. ♥️

Commissioning a portrait has historically been reserved for the affluent, but no longer. Strolling through galleries of portraiture, we wonder who and why and gaze upon those who have been immortalized by their contributors to history, commerce, faith and leadership. In an age of technology, the brush and canvas along with the gifted artist eloquently capture those figures whom we admire. We share with you one such example recently created through Galerie Gabrie.

Rich & Ginnie Hunsaker are legacy donors of the University of Redlands. The university gifted them this portrait after many years of generosity. Robert Semans is the artist, view more of his portraits here: https://www.gabrie.com/semans-portraits

In light of Valentine's Day coming up, we present for your consideration an original drawing by Jean Cocteau.

Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic. He was one of the foremost creatives of the surrealist, avant-garde and dadaist movement - one of the most influential figures in the early 20th century art world.

The National Observer suggests that, "Of the artistic generation whose daring gave birth to 20th century art, Cocteau came closest to being a Renaissance man."

This drawing was based on the greek myth of "Orpheus" who descended into the Underworld of Hades to recover his lost wife Eurydice.
