Things are wild and crazy right now. Still have plants that need homes. Dm if you’d like to come shop. We leave Sunday morning 😬
If not the meantime, this gloriosa lily flower are keeping me sane (mostly) 😜
When I say “Eucomis”
You say “What?!”
And that’s pretty much how it goes 😜
What else should we call these unique and wonderful plants?
Pineapple lily is more descriptive for sure. Any other suggestions?
Ps a stem will last in a vase for a month! That are magic that way!
I LOVE the Rudbeckia this year! I was t going to grow it because it needs such a long lead time (and cool weather) but it is lovely and so tall! Nice send off for our move 😊
See this gorgeous plant? One of the Compulsive Gardeners brought in cuttings of this Stargazer Hydrangea to share with the group. Thats just one of the many benefits of being a member. It’s my favorite thing to do on Friday mornings when their classes are in session. They have a few spots open for membership starting this fall. Join and thank me later 😊 (link in bio)
My contribution to
We are deep in the throes of moving right now so flowers are taking a back seat. Found this from last year though and it made me happy. Maybe it brings a smile or a deeper breath? I know it helps me!
Threw some leftover stems in a vase. I love this vase!
Iridescent Iris
Celebrating a graduation! Was a treat to take a break from all the stress of moving and get to play with flowers.
The to-do list is long but I couldn’t help myself to get outside and cut a few stems of late spring beauty.
Very different flowers today. I’m at a desert retreat with my amazing women’s accountability group and led a plant walk this morning. Such a treat!
Loving the first flush of roses.
Real life with sweet peas.
So much of what I love about flowers isn’t big fancy arrangements but little posies and a quick cut and plunk those stems in a vase. Real life. Cause we’re all busy and flowers make life better. Simple.
Happy Mother’s Day!
And shout out to the delightful flower friends who joined together yesterday to learn about heirloom chrysanthemums!
THANK YOU!
I had so much fun!
YES. What can you say YES to unequivocally? Say YES to having a garden bursting with fall flowers by taking my class this Saturday. Registration link is in my bio. Message with questions!
There’s nothing like them! Spider moms are WILD! Learn about these amazing flowers in Moms, Mums, and Mimosas class this Saturday! Link in bio.
I’ve been so focused on preparing for that I’ve haven’t put the word out about the class on 5/11.
We’ll cover the history of heirloom mums and how to take cuttings, enjoy libations and the company of fellow flower lovers. You’ll take home a bunch of cuttings to add to your gardens and enjoy gorgeous flowers from this fall. Details are in the link in my bio. Join me!
I admit I’m feeling a little tender like this rose bud. I don’t know how many people will be visiting my little backyard flower farm tomorrow and I’m humbled at the overwhelming interest. I’m excited to share my flower babies and I hope I get everything ready in time! Wish me luck!
The first flush of blooms is always the most spectacular! The roses are going to shine for the flower farm tour this Saturday! Tickets are all taken but you could come volunteer (PLEASE! I could really use a few extra people). Message me if you can help out for the day or even just an hour or two. I’ll send you home with plants or seeds!
The blooms are giving me some calm as I try and plan logistics for a large influx of guests to my medium size backyard this weekend.
A happy birthday arrangement with one of the first rose stems of the season :)
I love this tapestry of self sown nasturtiums. They hold up beautifully in a vase, make a wonderful ground cover and attract pollinators. The fact that you can eat them -flowers stuffed with whipped cream cheese are fantastic- is icing on the cake. Can you tell I’m smitten?
The last class before we leave for Germany for 2 years! We’ll learn about heirloom chrysanthemums and the foundational gardening skill of taking cuttings. Students will take cuttings from my extensive collection of florist chrysanthemums to take home. I’ll have a lot of plants to sell in anticipation of our big move. Roses, bearded Iris, potted chrysanthemums, lisianthus, eucomis (pineapple lily), gardening supplies (a titan sweet pea tunnel!), and more! Space is limited so register early.
Just a peony and a bearded iris hanging out with the bees.
I’m growing some of the new anemones from . I only got a few but each bloom is full of petals and amazing! I’m impressed!
Spring bouquet bringing the sunshine on this cloudy morning.
Another bearded iris bloom :) I’ll be bringing some to the Moca plant sale this Sunday from 10-3 for Come say hi!
Dutch Iris! Planted the bulbs (6” deep!) two years ago and thought they just didn’t like our climate. This year I’ve got beautiful flowers! Lesson in gardening- patience helps!
These are the most amazing sweet peas I’ve ever grown I am over the moon! 2 ft stems! 😊😊😊😊
First blooms on clematis vines- now I can attach the right labels! A crow or some other critter removed all the la els from the six plants I’d bought. It’s been an exercise in patience trying to figure out which is which.
If you are growing sweet peas, how are yours doing?
I had to leave these beauties to head to Mazatlan for a better view of Mondays eclipse. Not sorry about it! Not much here by way of beautiful botanicals but we plan to do some exploring this afternoon and I’ll share what I find.
