Nicola Moore Studio
Aussie Artist / Maker based in Los Angeles ✌️ Nicola Moore is an Australian ceramics and mixed media artist who works out of her studio in Pasadena, California.
Her work is a vibrant and eclectic creation of unique and functional works of art. She thrives on spontaneity, color, and the exciting evolution of experimental processes. Born in South Africa, and brought up in New Zealand and Australia, she completed a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications in 2004. Since then life, and her previous work as a motion graphics artist, led her to live in many

New pieces being released into the shop every Thursday at 10am for the next little while. Check back often! 🙌
This ‘Opal Drips’ is one of two lusterware ritual cups left on my website from the latest collection release. This one has a subtle opalescence and I love the way the glaze has interacted with the carved detail on the cup. She’s perfect for that special tea or cocktail, or to use as a small bowl for desserts and treats!

Thanks so much for the orders yesterday and this morning! I appreciate all the support, whether it be in the form of words of encouragement, or purchases of my work. If you haven’t had a chance to take a peek at the new collection it’s now live on my website. 👀
This ‘Ink Shimmer’ Lusterware Vase would elevate any space with its elegant gold and midnight blue black streaks. If you’re into the more perfect, symmetrical shaped pieces, this one’s for you. 🌷
I have two cups left, plus a lovely variety of bowls, vases and other treasures. Everything is one-of-a-kind so snap it up if it sparks joy for you! ✨
Today is the day! My latest collection with yummy, iridescent, shiny lusterware goes live at 10am on my website. ✨
Here’s some cup bottoms. These pieces are all so different and part of their magic is taking them in from every angle and in every different lighting condition. 👀
These are:
1) ‘Unicorn Gleam’ Lusterware Ritual Cup
2) ‘Opal Drips’ Lusterware Ritual Cup
3) ‘Candy Halo’ Lusterware Ritual Cup
Check out some pics from our magical pitfire day! This is such a fun and interactive way to fire pottery. There are layers of chemistry and artistry that you can harness and play with, and then it’s really up to the alchemy of nature and your kiln fairies to decide on the results.
And of course unearthing the pieces this morning was just as exciting as it gets! I’ll post more of our process and the epic results in a reel or two soon…
‘Bring me the sunset in a cup’ - Emily Dickenson ✨
This ‘Golden Sunset’ Ritual Cup will be up for grabs in an online lusterware collection release in June! Hop on my mailing list to receive early access. Link in profile. 🙌
That drip 🤤
Drippy glaze on the base of a ceramic balance bulb sculpture.
Who loves Pastel colors?
I’m enjoying drinking out of mugs that I’ve made (and forgotten about!) while staying with family and friends in Aus at the moment! This is a mug I made for my brother … and he makes the best coffees in the world!!! 🙌
I couldn’t help snapping a pic of this lustery jewelry wall piece glistening in the studio. As you change viewing angles you can spot all the colors of the rainbow… 🥰🌈✨
Luster glaze detail… 😍
‘Grounded in Flux’ Balance Bulb Sculpture. I love the way the kiln fairies helped this one develop an extra little support for itself!
I started making these balance bulbs a while back and would sell them as I made them, but then decided I’d like to build up a collection and see them all together. So, now I have lovely little groups of them all over the studio that make up a sweet display of my glaze and firing developments.
They feel really grounding to cup in your hands, and each is infused with some calm, love, and the intention to help you foster balance in your life. They are all glazed or fired differently, and all have their own personality. I may have a little collection reveal soon, possibly a flash sale, and release some of these into the world. I just need to photograph & document them all first…

Doing what I love. ❤️
A little corner of the studio. And a pretty platter that’s listed on my website if your interested in purchasing, but is happily brightening up the studio for the minute… 🥰
Let’s go 2024! As usual I don’t have huge, solid plans for the year creatively. I prefer to follow my inspiration each day and see where it takes me. At the moment I’ve been finding this way of living more exciting in that it often takes me directions I never dreamed up myself. ✨
In the past I’ve been through phases, years even, of intense, deliberate manifestation. And I’m not counting that out. It’s powerful and I do believe you can create almost any life experience if you believe you can. But this more flowing, present way of living has been how I’ve gotten to where I am creatively over the past few years. Just letting go and trusting the process.
And this isn’t to say I don’t have intentions. I always have strong intentions of how I want to feel. I aim to have health and strength, calm and excitement, and I’m constantly striving for balance, which we all know is a constant work in progress! Plus, gratitude is a big one to focus on even more this year.
I do have ideas of accomplishments I think would be fun… call them preferences perhaps, or things that my mind thinks are appropriate next steps. But I’m completely open to those not happening, and other paths revealing themselves. My soul often has different ideas about where my life is going, and I trust that from experience. So this is how I’m rolling for now in this season in the studio.
I do know I’m going to be continuing my in glaze luster development. That’s a definite because I’m just so intrigued to see where it’s taking me, and the potential for some really unique work is so inspiring. But it has been a journey, and not always as easy one! The possibilities are way too amazing to not keep on down that path though.
I also have a few collections in the pipelines that need to be wrapped up and released to the world at some point! But let’s see what happens… 🥰
What are your highest intentions for this year???

#2024
From heavens high, Earth’s tapestry unfolds,
Slices of life, stories untold. 💙🌎✨
This is my ‘Earth Vista’ Glaze Painting on Stoneware. It can hang on a wall or be displayed in a stand. Available on my website. 🥰
I have two large 12” round platters currently up for grabs. And just one 10” plate left… These are functional art pieces and can also be displayed on a stand while not being used. Still time to ship for Christmas! 💕
I just learnt this Greek word Meraki. It means to do something with soul, creativity, or love; and to leave a little something of yourself in your work. Isn’t that beautiful? And I like to think I definitely work with love as a high intention, and instill a little piece of my soul in each piece.
This ‘Pink Pearl’ Shimmer Vase is a perfect example and would make a sweet little Christmas gift. She’s available on my website.
This stunner is part of one of my favourite sets of hex plates ever. Hop over to my website to purchase… 🌈
I spent the day documenting all my ceramic baskets yesterday. It’s a collection I’ve been working on for years, and it’s almost complete... ❤️
It’s been kitten heaven over here as I’m sure a lot of you have seen if you’ve been following along. I’m a massive cat lover, but hubby is a tad allergic so we’ve only had our little dog Ziggy until now. He likes to think he’s my studio cat. 😉
But we rescued a litter of 6 kittens a few months back and have been enjoying every second of watching them grow up. They’ve gone to good homes now in 2 pairs which worked out perfectly. And we kept two of the little darlings. Luckily the allergies haven’t been an issue with these kitties, and they’ve bought an immense amount of joy into our lives!!
Here are a couple of medium format photographs that my lovely hubs took of them when they were wee little babes.
My goal was always to have a pocket cat, so pic number 3 was me testing that out. We did end up keeping the one that would fall asleep in my apron pocket every time I put him in there, and he’s become my little buddy in the studio.
‘Candy Melt’ Curvy Mug. 💕Whatcha think of this babe? The pink is finished in a pretty pearlescent luster that’s tricky to see in a pic! 🥰🌈🧚🏻♀️
