“We are so pleased to launch the new PhD program in Global Development at William Carey International University. WCIU has a clear mission of advocating an integrated framework for development studies, incorporating biblical, historical, and cultural perspectives and insights from related fields of study. Integration and mutual learning are key components of the Ph.D. program in Global Development, aimed at developing students’ capacity to engage in local development challenges informed by multiple related perspectives and learning from global communities to establish defensible positions and propose holistic solutions. We strive to support students with the tools and resources necessary for their research needs. A significant amount of the coursework is designed to equip students with the perspectives essential for studying global development and to build students’ research capacity. Our faculty team with diverse academic and professional backgrounds is committed to guiding students through their individualized research projects.”

WCIU and SEND International are coming together for an online training focused on Identifying Vulnerable Communities. During our time together, Dr Viv Grigg, Director of WCIU’s MA in Transformational Urban Leadership will encourage us to follow the example of Jesus, who came to minister to the vulnerable in society sharing with them the good news of his redemptive kingdom. One challenge for church planters and development workers as they step into new contexts is to identify the vulnerable communities to which they will share this good news. Our hope is that this session will impart practical ways you can do just that.

Questions for a Research Project re Evangelical Church
1. What are 2 or 3 phrases that come to your mind when you think of the evangelical church?
2. How is the evangelical church different now than it was in the past?
I need your replies for a research project. I'm doing an "audit" of the seven church in Revelation with a comparison to the evangelical church of today, using "tests" from First John (the subject of my dissertation).
Thank you in advance for participating.
“Discipleship means that disciples have to find Jesus’ answers for the exploited factory worker, and how the poor should respond to the moneylenders... The Bible has much to teach about what we should do with such problems of oppression.” (Viv Grigg, Companion to the Poor: Christ in the Urban Slums p. 57)
Will you join us in praying for the escalating situation in Ukraine today? Pope Francis has issued a call for a world day of prayer today and has stated, “I am following with concern the increase of tensions that threaten to inflict a new blow to the peace in Ukraine, and call into question the security of the European continent, with wider repercussions.”
Join us in praying for the following:
👏Wisdom and discernment for the key global leaders involved James 1:5
👏For the Prince of Peace to be made known and for His peace to give comfort to those who find themselves in the crossfire of this conflict. Ephesians 1:17-19
👏Pray for believers to be strengthen by the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:16-19
👏Justice and righteousness Amos 5:24
👏For mercy from heaven and a quick resolution 2 Thess 3:1-5
Church historian and missiologist, Ralph D. Winter:
"It is possible to observe that in the four-hundred-year period between 1200 and 1600 a third Dark Age occurred. This was not due to a military invasion so much as to the widespread devastation of the Bubonic plague in middle of the 14th century. The plague, which might be called a bacteriological invasion, was far more destructive than either of the two earlier [military] invasions."
Analysis: While the world has been in a "Dark Age" due to wars & plagues for 100 years+, science has advanced. Darkness and light at the same time. Each dark age in the last 2000 years was followed by a "renaissance." It's hard to see patterns in our current events because it takes hundreds of years for a parallel cycle of history to repeat.
