November 3 is All Saints Sunday, our Parish Feast Day. We celebrate the truth that this community, what we call the communion of saints, is stronger than death. All Saints Sunday is when we traditionally honor relatives and friends who have died within the past year. At all services our memorial book, containing the names of loved ones, will be placed on the altar. You are invited to look in the memorial book for the name of the person you love.

Tim Rich will preach at 7:30 and 10:00 a.m. Coventry Choir and Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Weicheng Zhao, will offer Requiem by Maurice Duruflé, a work of remarkable beauty and power. ASL interpretation is available at 10:00 a.m.

NOTE: Incense will be used during the 10:00 a.m. service. If you’d like to sit in an“incense-free” zone, there is seating outside on the lawn.

REMINDER: Daylight Savings ends at 2:00 a.m., November 3. Set your clocks back one hour Saturday evening, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep before church!

9:00 a.m. in the Guild Room, Sunday Morning Live: Faith, Formation & Fellowship - "For All the Saints." As we celebrate All Saints Sunday, Susan Russell will explore the many facets of sainthood: its history in both the wider church and in the Episcopal tradition, as well as how we continue to add to the saints in our current church calendar. 5:00 p.m. in the Church -- Dia de los Mu***os Service
Join us for our Dia de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) service as we come together to honor and remember our loved ones who have passed, blending them with our Christian faith in a time of remembrance, reflection, and hope. All are welcome.

And after the 5:00 p.m. service join us for the Día de los Mu***os Potluck in Sweetland Hall directly after the 5:00 p.m. Día de los Mu***os service. Women’s Community invites you to bring a dish, and share a meal. We will gather to share food with each other in honor of our loved ones. Share a favorite dish prepared or enjoyed by your loved one who has passed.

“Shake It Off” Dance Party: Dance Away Your Pre-Election (or World Series) Jitters!

Friday, October 25, 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Learning Center.

Whether you're anxious about the election or the World Series, there will be a dance floor AND TVs to watch Game 1 of the World Series!

Join with members and friends of the All Saints community for a “shake it off” dance party to celebrate community and shake off the tensions, concerns and anxieties of one of the longest election cycles in the history of voting.

Put on your dancing shoes, bring a snack to share for the potluck table, and dance and/or watch the game together.

Join us on Thursday, October 17, when The League of Women Voters Presents “Civil Discourse: Dialogue Across Differences," 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Guild Room! An important and timely panel on using civil discourse to overcome the current toxic political environment and support democracy. Panelists include the Rev. Tim Hartley, Pasadena City Councilmember Jason Lyon and Pasadena Police Civilian Oversight Commission member Juliana Serrano.

Latin Hour follows the 10 a.m. service. Meet friends out on the lawn, have a snack and enjoy the exciting vibe of Latin rhythms with live music provided by All Saints’ composer-in-residence and Grammy Award-winning musician Bill Cunliffe and his music students. Our Monthly 20/30s Social Hour will be Pumpkin Carving at 12:00 p.m. on the South Driveway (Plaza Las Fuentes fountain). All 20/30s are warmly invited to come for some great fun carving pumpkins! Pumpkins will be provided!

The AAPI Ministry will meet at 12:00 p.m. in the Jr High Room. Did you know that LA County is home to one of the largest Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the United States? We warmly invite you to join the AAPI Ministry and the RJM Ministry for a thoughtful discussion of "Asian American Histories of the United States" by Catherine Ceniza Choy. They’ll be gathering twice to discuss the book – and whether you’ve read the book or not, you’re welcome to join in the conversation and learning! Our seasonal All Saints Congregational Town Hall was held on Sunday, October 13, at 12:00 p.m. in the Forum. Treasurer Karen Meier and vestry member Gloria Pitzer gave updates on all things budget and finance, and priest-in-charge Tim Rich, senior warden Al Hughes and other parish leaders offered a look at opportunities for connection, reflection and inspiration in the program year ahead. And many questions were asked and answered.

On Sunday, October 13, All Saints Church in Pasadena will observe National Coming Out Day – a celebration of courage, authenticity, and the transformative power of living openly. “At All Saints Church Pasadena, we are committed to creating a space where everyone is welcomed, valued, and celebrated for who they are,” said Thomas Diaz, Director of Connection and Care. “And Coming Out Day is a powerful reminder of the importance of visibility and support for the LGBTQ+ community.”

The Reverend Canon Susan Russell – chair of the Episcopal Church’s Task Force on LGBTQ Inclusion – will be the preacher at both the 7:30 and 10:00 a.m. services. “Coming Out Day is an the opportunity for us to come out as Christians by offering a rebuttal to the rabid rhetoric of the religious right who have taken the Good News of God's inclusive love and distorted it into a weapon of mass discrimination,” said Russell. “As Harvey Milk famously said ‘You must come out ... and once and for all, break down the myths, destroy the lies and distortions.’ And for me as a priest and pastor, those lies and distortions include hijacking my faith and turning it into weapon to wound God's beloved LGBTQ children.”

Following the 10:00 service, all are invited to participate in "Express Yourself" – a community art experience designed to bring people together, share their stories, and celebrate diverse, unique identities through creative expression in honor of the bravery of those who have come out in the past and to support and encourage those who are still on their journey.

First celebrated in 1988, National Coming Out Day is an annual LGBTQ awareness day observed on October 11 – the anniversary of the Second National March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights. Grounded in the feminist and gay liberation spirit of the personal being political, National Coming Out Day has evolved into a global event, with various activities, campaigns, and discussions aimed at raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues. It serves not only as a celebration of coming out but also as a reminder of the ongoing struggles for rights and acceptance faced by LGBTQ+ individuals around the world.

Getting Connected: An Introduction to All Saints Church

Starts 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. in the Learning Center.

This five-week class is designed for anyone — from brand new to long-time seeker — interested in exploring the essence of All Saints and getting more connected through active participation. Each class consists of a presentation by a staff member followed by a small group experience. Together we consider the core values of All Saints Church and develop a sense of belonging as we build connections to individuals, ministries and groups.
