Pasadena Casting Club Third Thursday Meet-up!.

PCC President, board members, and members all went on another fantastic trip fishing on the Missouri River in Craig, Montana.

Big fish honors go the King Nympher Matt Swanson with a 27” bow however it’s his 1st trout caught on a dry. WTG Matt! The rest of us followed closely behind with many 24”. Big THANKS go to Terui-San for organizing another successful trip. Delicious food, great friends and many big trout. Looking forward to next year. - Chiaki

Last month, CalTrout and The Pasadena Casting Club teamed up with California Department of Fish and Wildlife for an awesome resident rainbow trout survey on the Arroyo Seco River (a tributary to the LA River) in Los Angeles. 🐟

Over 15 passionate volunteers from the Pasadena Casting Club spent the day practicing catch-and-release fishing (no barbs!). Weight and length of each fish was recorded. This effort helped us gather crucial data that will provide a better understanding of the resident trout population and support future conservation efforts.

Big thanks to everyone who came out and made this day a success! 🙌

📊 Data collected: Water temperature ranged from 15-21C. 3.5 miles of stream was snorkeled and 4,292 RBT were visually observed. 25 RBT were captured via hook and line. Size ranges were 95-271mm (3.7 - 10.6 inches) and average relative weight is 101, just above average. Weight ranges were 19-271g.

PCC members, Eric Callow, Mike Miller, Mark Hess and Steve Terui worked hard to cleanup and w**d eating the south end of the Casting Pond.

Their efforts are not only helping the City of Pasadena in maintaining the area around the pool for our members but also for tournament caster champion, Eric Callow who will be participating in an upcoming Casting Tournament in Cincinnati.

It was a mad dash at our Yard Sale this past Sunday! We had a great turn out with lots of amazing items for sale. Past President Tom Smith almost got run over! Don't worry, he was ok! What did you score? Share with us and let us know!

On Saturday night, we celebrated our Past-Presidents and our outgoing President at a nice dinner at Smitty's Restaurant! It was wonderful to have our board, chairs, and Presidents together and share our past club experiences! Our club has a rich history of amazing Presdients and board members and we couldn't have done it without all their time and sacrifices! Thank you to everyone!

Happy Earth Day! We can still use a few more volunteers for the clean-up at Glenn Camp this coming Saturday, April 27.  Glenn Camp is a campground next to the West Fork of the San Gabriel River in Angeles National Forest. We will be working with FRVC to do some spring cleaning in preparation for the increase in recreational use in the summer months.  We will meet at 8 am and I expect we'll be done in early afternoon.  If you're interested in helping, please contact Ed or register through the event calendar.
