Last month, it was great to celebrate National Night Out in San Gabriel, Monterey Park, & Rosemead, an annual event that strengthens the bond between our communities & law enforcement. It was inspiring to see so many of our local heroes, & I am deeply grateful for their bravery.
Given the high temperatures expected this week in Southern California, I want to remind everyone to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. Please stay safe and take care during this period of extreme heat.

Happy Labor Day!
Let us honor the hard work & dedication of American workers who make our communities thrive. I'll always fight for workers' rights, pensions, & the freedom to organize, while supporting efforts to build stronger workplaces & give working families a real voice.
Last week, I attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Heritage Square South, an Affordable Housing complex for seniors in Pasadena. 🏠
I was deeply moved by the story of Keith Dixon, whose journey highlights the transformative power of low-cost housing.
Keith grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. In his 20's, he dedicated himself to working at a mechanic & body shop. After 30 years, he achieved his dream of owning his own shop.
However, when his mother fell ill, he made the selfless decision to close his business & care for her.
After his mother's passing, her rent doubled, leaving Keith unable to keep up with the payments. With no other options, he spent 2 years living in his car before finally finding support through Union Station Homeless Services.
Prioritizing affordable housing is a significant achievement for our city & fosters a healthier, more equitable community.
I will continue to fight for more affordable housing opportunities, so people like our neighbor, Keith, can have a roof over their head.
BINGO! Loved calling numbers at American Legion Post 288 & VFW Post 1614's 12th Annual Bingo Night. Great to see winners and discuss the PACT Act, which expands VA benefits for Veterans exposed to toxic substances. Always grateful for our community's Vets.

I hope everyone is safe following Los Angeles' earthquake just now!
Stay vigilant for aftershocks or falling objects. During earthquakes, be sure to drop, cover your head & neck, and hold on. Make sure you have an emergency kit of food, water, medicine, and a backup battery.
It's electric! 🔋🚓🚨🚔 Shoutout to City of South Pasadena – Local Government Police Department for securing the nation’s first all-electric police fleet.
This milestone is an example to police departments everywhere. Together, we can keep our communities safe while transitioning to clean energy & fighting climate change.

I am forever thankful to and inspired by President Joe Biden for his unwavering commitment to bettering our country. It’s this commitment that has powered his career in public service and the landmark accomplishments of his administration. Bringing us out of a once-in-a-century pandemic. Fighting against anti-Asian hate, signing the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act into law, and starting the process for a national museum that celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander history. Nominating a historic number of women, people of color, and LGTBQ+ Americans for executive positions and judicial roles. Powering an infrastructure and manufacturing boom. Leading an economic comeback unparalleled worldwide. Beating Big Pharma and lowering health care costs for Americans. Overseeing the biggest investment in fighting the climate crisis ever and protecting millions of acres of public lands, including the San Gabriel Mountains in my district. Championing the first gun safety legislation in decades that is saving lives. Expanding the NATO alliance and fighting authoritarianism around the world. Rebuilding and strengthening our own democracy after the former MAGA president disgraced it and initiated terrible violence on January 6, 2021.
I can never forget the empathy President Biden showed in a time of immense need for the families of the victims of a mass shooting in my hometown Monterey Park. I am forever grateful for the hours he spent with us in this selfless act of healing for our community. President Biden is a good, decent man who has always been a warrior for the soul of this nation. We are a better nation for his leadership. I thank him for his decades of service and look forward to fighting with him on behalf of the American people for the remainder of his term and beyond.

Testifying before Congress is an exciting opportunity!
It was a pleasure to invite my California 28 constituent, Tom McCarthy, Co-Founder of Motiv Space Systems, to testify to the House Committee on Small Business Democrats on the post-2020 surge in small businesses and how to spur research and development: https://youtube.com/watch?t=2525&v=uUsv7Jo34t0&feature=youtu.be
I had a fantastic time celebrating our nation's independence this past weekend. 🇺🇸 It was great to see so many new and familiar faces along the parade routes.

Working with City of Pasadena - Public Agency, I recently secured $959,752 in federal funding for the Sunset Complex Project Groundwater Treatment Facility.
This investment will enhance our water system management, ensuring:
💧water security
🍃climate resiliency
♻️sustainable water supply
Recently, I visited Chinatown Service Center in Monterey Park to deliver a check for $850,000 of federal Community Project Funding that I secured to significantly expand their Workforce Training Programs in the San Gabriel Valley!
Pride Month goes far beyond parades and celebrations. It’s also about addressing past injustices and ensuring equal rights.
That's why Rep. Becca Balint and I introduced the PRIDE Act to promote economic justice by addressing tax code disparities for all couples.

A path toward dignity and equality with PRIDE Act The fight for marriage equality has been a long and emotional journey for many in the LGBTQ+ community. The PRIDE Act aims to right the wrongs of the past and ensure equal treatment for all couples, writes congressional representatives of the Equality Caucus.

The PRIDE Act extends tax benefits for same-sex couples married before the 2013 Supreme Court Windsor case and affirms the dignity of all married couples. I was so pleased to co-author this piece with my Congressional Equality Caucus colleague Rep. Balint:

Had a fantastic time celebrating the start of at the San Gabriel Valley Pride Parade & Festival this morning.
As a member of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I'm committed to elevating LGBTQI+ history. This month & every month I pledge to continue the fight for equality. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🌈
May has been fantastic, celebrating AANHPI highlights.
But I also must acknowledge trailblazers like Vincent Chin. Recently, I spoke Act To Change's AAPI Day Against Bullying & Hate, a day of commemoration and a reminder of those who have suffered for our victories.
Today, our legal system worked as intended. A jury of Donald Trump's peers, everyday Americans, weighed evidence and found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of falsifying business records to keep voters in the dark in 2016.
This goes to the heart of our justice system and our democracy: no one is above the law.
Great news for the San Gabriel Valley!
Thanks to our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and President Joe Biden, the following school districts will get 42 clean-running buses:
✔️Alhambra Unified
✔️Arcadia Unified
✔️Montebello Unified
✔️Chaffey Joint Union High School District
Schools can now reinvest that money into classrooms for instruction!
Beep Beep – Historic funding coming through! 🚌
EPA is awarding nearly $900 million to support the purchase of more than 3,400 clean school buses, 92% of which will be zero-emission electric. ⚡

This Memorial Day, we come together to remember and honor the brave servicemembers who gave their lives for our country. Their courage and sacrifice have secured the freedoms we cherish today and every day.
Working in Congress can be a bit ruff, but one of the best parts of the job is meeting adorable pups like this one! Happy ! 🐶🐾
I was honored to introduce President Biden at the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) annual gala last night, the largest gathering of AANHPI leaders of its kind.
I am so thankful to be Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) and help lead my incredible colleagues to fight for AANHPI communities in the halls of Congress.
I ran for Congress to deliver results for the San Gabriel Valley, and I'm proud that I was able to secure $17.8 million in this year's funding laws to directly support crucial projects in our community.
This is the outcome of collaboration with local leaders in California and my bipartisan work in Washington, D.C.!
