Mission of the Passaic Neighborhood Center for Women re-energized by 3 new staff members (PNCW) has been a second home to many women of the city who walk through its doors. Recently, the center welcomed three new staff members involved in Catholic ministry who are ready to build on its legacy of providing a safe and peaceful place for women to meet, share, and grow.
The Passaic Neighborhood Center for Women hosted its biggest fund-raiser of the year yesterday, "An Afternoon with Marie Benedict" at the Rockaway River County Club in Denville.
A historical fiction writer focusing on the stories of women, Marie Benedict spoke about her latest books "The First Ladies" and "The Mitford Affair."

Today we say THANK YOU to Sister of Christian Charity Gerardine for her 10 years of service (three as a volunteer, 7 as a staff member) on her last day today!
She got the Center up and running each and every day! She was a friendly face to all our women and provided much love and care to them. We wish her well as she enjoys the next chapter of her life!

🌱We thank for blessing our community garden yesterday!
The women felt blessed and honored the bishop spent time with them.
We also thank the , our advisory board, volunteers and religious sisters for helping our women day after day.
Most especially, we thank our women who touch our hearts with their generosity, willingness to learn and desire to be more empowered.
🌱Our garden season has officially begun! Our community garden allows each women, who don’t have homes with backyards, to have her own garden bed and grow what she wants. This includes 🍅, 🥬, 🍆 and more providing fresh food for her family.
We thank for providing mentorship, resources and helping our gardens thrive year after year.
Also thank you to City Green, Inc. Passaic County for the Dig In grant we received. They provided the compost, a tool kit and some seeds to get our garden started.
Next week will be here to bless our garden.

Thank you to Kearny Bank for once again hosting a Food collection for our center!
During this time, many of our families are facing many challenges with the increase of food costs. Donations like this help support them!

This month, we have had a record amount of new registrations for mothers seeking baby diapers.

The demand is met only because of the generosity of so many caring individuals and organizations!
Today Salesian Sister Theresa Lee, who recently appointed as Diocesan Chancellor/Delegate for Religious, visited the Center today for the first time.
We look forward to working with Sr. Theresa as we grow with the potential to serve so many more women in need.

We welcomed two new volunteers this week, who will spend time with our women, doing crafts and other activities.

Our Giving Tree is up at the Paterson Diocesan Center! The collection is in memory of Rebeca Ruiz-Ulloa, diocesan architect, who passed away Feb. 26, 2021. She began the spirit of giving for these women and we will never forget her generosity and love.
During this time of year, we are so grateful to so many who give gifts to the women we serve.

We have 🧶crocheting, 🧵 quilting and 💻 English learning classes going on. We also have some women at our 🌱 community garden.
These women bring such a warmth into our center and we are truly happy to be there for them.

It’s a Garden Party!
Everyday, women who come to the Passaic Neighborhood Center tend to its community garden, which provides them with fresh produce.
Most of the women who come to the center don’t have a backyard space to have such a garden and we are grateful to the many organizations that support us including and the . They make the urban gardens possible!
🎒📚 Schools almost back in session!
We are grateful to the Samaritans of St. Ann Church in Parsippany, who hosted a School Supply Drive to benefit so many organizations including our Center in Passaic.
We pray that all students headed back to school have a productive year of learning! 🙏🏼
