While the idea of floating certainly isn’t new, it probably is to you. Float Tank’s, also called Isolation Tanks, Float Rooms and Sensory Deprivation tanks, have been around for over 50 years. They have been commercially available since the early 1970′s with the first float center opening in 1979 in Beverly Hills. The floatation industry has had ups and downs throughout the years, but the past dec
Dear Valued Float Community,
It is with a heavy heart that we share some difficult news with you today. After much consideration, we have made the challenging decision to permanently close The Float Place in DEER PARK, effective this Sunday.
Throughout the years, our mission has been to offer a sanctuary for relaxation, healing, and self-reflection. We have cherished every moment spent with our wonderful community. Despite our best efforts, the rising recent challenges brought on in recent years have proven insurmountable.
This decision was not made lightly, and we deeply regret the suddenness of this announcement and the potential impact it may have on our members, guests, and staff. The Float Place in PATCHOGUE WILL REMAIN OPEN, and with immense gratitude, will be honoring services for anyone still holding any service credits or gift cards from The Float Place Deer Park for up to the next six months, or less based on the expiration of your services.
We share both sadness and gratitude for all the beautiful individuals we've had the privilege of serving, connecting with, and working alongside. With over 47,000 float sessions and numerous stories of transformation and healing, we hope that we have made a positive difference in your lives.
As we navigate this challenging time, we encourage you to continue prioritizing self-care, personal growth, and being a force for positive change in your communities.
From the depths of our hearts, we express our sincere thanks for your unwavering support, trust, and the countless memories we've created together. It has been an honor to be part of your experiences of rejuvenation, healing, and transformation, and we feel blessed to have been a part of your journey.
With great grief and gratitude,
Tom and Hardy
There are countless reasons people come to The Float Place, but here are some of the ones that we hear most often.
-Stress reduction
-Improved sleep
-Mind/Body balance
The removal of stimulus from the nervous system, combined with a huge dose of Magnesium from the Epsom Salt in the water, allows our entire body to enter a state of deep relaxation that can not be replicated outside of Floating.
Visit us at our Deer Park or Patchogue float center to experience it for yourself.
Floating at TFP can help alleviate the chronic pain that plagues so many people every day.
The combination of Epsom Salt, sensory deprivation, and Float Place vibes can melt that pain away.
An infrared sauna can help your skin look and feel amazing. Have you tried it?
Sometimes it can feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. For those times (and any others), we are here for you. Relief awaits you.
Remember to say "yes" to yourself too. Whether that means coming in for a float, getting enough sleep, sitting in the sauna or going for a walk - say "yes" to your own needs just as much as you say it to help others.
Spending time relaxing helps you out in so many ways. It can also help your gut health.
If you're looking to improve your gut health, you may want to add some relaxation to your daily habits like meditation or yoga.
We are always busy. Do you know anyone who says they aren't busy? What if we change the narrative a bit? What if we talk about the breaks we give ourselves? Be un-busy for a change.
Your immune system can get a boost and a glow - without any effort from you! How is this possible? Our infrared sauna raises your core body temperature from the inside out.
You don't need to worry about any sensitive skin when you float. We've got you covered. We provide ointment in your float room so you can use it to cover any sensitive areas to prevent stinging or burning. Apply it to any area that could be sensitive to a high concentration of salt water.
Having a salad with leafy greens, lentils, veggies, and legumes can help your gut health. These types of foods bring high-fiber into your diet. Be careful not to add too much fiber too quickly because that can cause bloating or gas. If that happens, try other types of fiber like starchy vegetables (squash and sweet potatoes).
Welcome back, Spring! We are so excited to see you again. What are you most looking forward to with the new season?
Let's talk about science for a second.
Your brain is always producing "electrical pulses". These pulses produce different types of brain wave activity - gamma, beta, alpha, theta, and delta. You're in Gamma when you're really concentrating. We usually spend a lot of our time in Beta though - actively thinking and making decisions. Alpha is when we begin to slow down a bit to rest, and Theta is that super sweet space between being awake and aware... and falling asleep. Once you fall asleep completely, you drop into Delta.
Most people say floating helps them reach that Theta state more easily. This is the mental state of being where the mind is capable of deep learning, healing, and mental growth. It can take a few floats to get to this state, but you can get there.
As you prepare for your first or next cold plunge try to avoid these common "mistakes" and just focus on building resilience and trying your best.

Don't save self care for a special occasion. Treat self care like the necessity it is. Taking care of yourself makes being alive all the sweeter, whether it is coming in for a float, an infrared sauna, or any of our other services.
To help your gut feel better, you need good bacteria to fight the bad bacteria in your body. Probiotics add GOOD bacteria to your system that you actually want and need in your body! At the right level, probiotics can help with digestion, improve nutrient absorption, and help control harmful microorganisms like germs.
Probiotics can be found in supplements and at your local grocery store. Tempeh, kefir, miso, sauerkraut, and kimchi are all good examples of fermented probiotic foods.
There's nothing like a good nap. That feeling of bliss when you have no idea what time it is, or what day it is. But you feel rested and grateful.
Yeah. That's the feeling a lot of folks get after a float.
Did you know that.... it's possible to burn up to 100-200 calories during a 17-minute walk, and you're able to burn up to 300-600 calories during a 45-minute infrared session.
When you float, your eyes can play some pretty cool tricks on you. This happens because your visual system (eyes + brain) doesn't actually shut down completely, so you still see bits of light, called phosphenes, that are created INSIDE your eyes. 🤯
Journaling can help you reflect on what's truly important in life.
1️⃣ You don't need a fancy journal. A simple notebook will do.
2️⃣ Find a quiet place, take a few deep breaths to release the day, and just start to write. What comes up for you? How did you feel afterward? Amazing, right? 💞
If you are tired of feeling bloated and want to improve your gut health -- this is a great place to start. List the kinds of foods you've been eating and how you've been feeling. You may need to reduce the number of sugars or processed foods that you've been consuming that cause inflammation.
Eating more apples, avocados, leafy greens, nuts, and seeds will help add healthy fats to your gut rather than things that make it feel bad.
It's possible that no two float experiences will the be same. Then again, it's possible that they might. You might find answers. You might find relief. You might feel big emotions. You might...
Being fearless is taking that first initial step. That one right action that leads to the next one and the one after that. But you have to take that first step.
Let this be your first step. Book a cold plunge. You won't regret it.
There are so many choices and decisions in life. One of those decisions is whether or not you are going to invest in your own self care. While you can't always choose the situations you're in, you can always decide how to feel about them. Floating is a choice. It reminds you that peace exists inside us, we just have to choose to find it.
When your mind feels jumbled and full, it's hard to think about adding anything more to it. Consider a fresh start. Sometimes that means scrapping your whole to-do list and starting over with what really matters most: focusing on YOU. Inner peace. Moving forward.
Give your mind the gift of blank slate.
We pride ourselves here on providing the space you need to give yourself a break with no judgement - whether you're stepping in to rest with a float, sweat it out in the sauna, or test your limits in our cold plunge (Patchogue location).
When did it become a competition? So many of us are fighting silent battles. We can stay grounded, find gratitude, and still allow ourselves to feel what we feel so we can move through it when the time is right.
Having trouble sleeping? Floating might just be the thing you're looking for to help with that insomnia.
With limited or no distractions, your brain gets to take a much needed break, and most people fall into theta waves, that sweet spot between being awake and asleep.
As if that's not enough, the weightlessness of floating releases pressure and stress on the body. These effects continue after the float session, making it easier to fall and stay asleep.

Ray Bradbury said “Life should be touched, not strangled. Let it happen at times and at others move forward with it.” We think Ray was on to something with this message. Sometimes we need to just sit back and observe what is going on around us; we don't always need to control it. Making peace with observing what happens and moving forward or not accordingly is self-care.
Need a place to sit back and reflect? We can think of a great one... 🥰
