Today Pawling loses a landmark. After 47 years in business in the same location, Ed and Mary are (semi) retiring. I will never forget how these two welcomed me with open arms into the village when I opened my business 15 years ago. Rumors were swirling because the stigma of the former business in my original store location, and Ed ignored the chatter and introduced himself to me and said, “Don’t listen to the nonsense, good luck and I’m your newest customer.” I’ll never forget their hospitality to me all those years ago. Although it’s sad to see them leave the village, I’m happy for them and their (semi) retirement, and being able to spend a lot more time with their grandkids. Thank you so much for all your years of friendship and your decades of contribution and service to the Village of Pawling. You will be missed dearly!
