Yes to Wind! Climate Action RI • 350 RI Protest against Preservation Society of Newport County whose opposition is delaying the construction of the Revolution Wind offshore wind project. Climate Action RI activists came out on Sept. 19 to protest in front of the Rosecliff Mansion in Newport to let attendees of the $750 per plate gala know that the Society must end the lawsuit that is blocking the offshore wind energy supply New England needs.
Preservation Society of Newport County, your obstruction is a threat to good-paying wind energy jobs, meeting RI’s Act On Climate goals and RI’s green energy economy as well as RI’s coastline, RI’s marine life, and a stable climate that preserves a livable planet. End the lawsuit now!
Join Climate Action Rhode in demanding that the Newport Preservation Society drop its obstructionist lawsuit against offshore wind development on September 19th in Newport (in front of the Elms Mansion, 367 Bellevue Ave, Newport, RI at 6:45pm). The lawsuit threatens Rhode Island's ability to meet its clean energy goals and end our dependence on foreign oil.

Their Newport Mansions are already worth over eighty million dollars and the organization is run by some of Rhode Island's wealthiest people. Yet they are suing the Federal Government in an attempt to win a multi-million dollar settlement from the offshore wind companies, which is money Rhode Islanders will end up paying in higher electricity bills. They refuse to discuss their lawsuit with us so we are taking our demands to them and protesting their $750/per person fundraiser. Read more about it in CARI's recent Boston Globe Op-Ed and sign our petition:
