The next time you're having breakouts, try this! 1️⃣ Lower stress level. I know I know, it's easier said than done. Do what you can. Go for walks, meditate, journal, sit outside, drink tea in silence, do breath work. Even if its only 5 minutes. Bringing down those cortisol levels are going to help those breakouts get under control. 2️⃣ Be more mindful of how much sugar you are consuming. On average you should consume only 25g of sugar equivalent to 6 teaspoons a day of sugar. 🧁Sugar increases inflammation and also causes spikes in your sugar levels that will then trigger your insulin. This effect will cause testosterone levels to rise, which makes the oil in your skin thicker, leading to clogged pores. 3️⃣ Substitute peanut butter for almond butter. I know there is something so yummy about peanut butter but it increases androgen levels in the body which trigger acne. This goes for peanuts as well! 🥜 4️⃣ Dairy tends to increase inflammation in the body and also the carbs get turned into sugar causing your blood sugar to spike. Yes this includes greek yogurt, whey protein and cottage cheese. 🥛Choose plant based products instead! Like almond milk and coconut yogurt 5️⃣ If you're thinking to yourself right now that none of these apply to you then its time to check that hand lotion you're leaving on over night 🧴 Sometimes we tend to tuck our hands under our chin when we sleep and that can transfer that lotion over to your chin/jawline causing it to clog the pores. Acne is a symptom of an inbalance in your body! That is why even if you've tried it all, you're not seeing results! It's time to focus on finding the root cause! If you feel your acne is hormonal you'll see breakouts concentrated in the jawline, chin and upper neck. Lowering stress and checking hormones levels is important. If you suspect your acne is due to poor digestion, you'll see that breakout pattern along the cheeks, smile lines and sometimes forehead. Repair the gut. Cut down on sugar, take pre and probiotics and eat more fiber. Breakouts in the temples and betweens the brows can sometimes be linked to the liver. Increase antioxidants like grapes & blueberries and drink plenty of water. Stop making these exfoliating mistakes 🛑 🧽You've probably heard it time and time again that acne prone skin needs more exfoliation. And while thats true, the kind of exfoliation you do and how often you dit truly matters. These are a no go: 1️⃣ Using a scrub- anything that is too abrasive with the texture similar to sugar can cause the pimples to burst and can spread the bacteria causing your skin to get infected. 2️⃣ Over exfoliating- on average acne prone skin should get exfoliated 2-3 times a day unless you are using an gentle exfoliating serum like Mandelic. Over exfoliting can cause your skin to get sensitive, dry, flaky, red and irritated. 🧴When using a chemical exfoliant which is an exfoliating product containing mandelic, salicylic, glycolic, retinol its always best to introduce it to your skin slowly. Only use it a couple of times a week, once a day for a few weeks then slowly increase the frequency. Trust me your skin will thank you! 3️⃣ Using the wrong exfoliator for your skin type! AHA's are meant for dryer skin types that are also a little more sensitive. That includes mandelic, lactic and glycolic. Although glycolic can be irritating for some. BHA's are meant more for oily skin types because of its ability to break through oil in the skin and clean the pores. 🔖Save this post for when you're shopping for a new exfoliator 🥳 - - - #houstonfacials #houstonskin #houstonskincare #houstonacnespecialists #houstonacnetreatments

Thanks but not thanks! We all want glass skin and be makeup less this summer but this is not the way to do it, if you are an acne girly like me. Nivea, Aquaphor and Vaseline are all occlusive products. Which means they sit on top of the skin. So if you are a combo skin type or oily this will not be suited for you. 💊Vitamin E capsules are formulated different since they are to be ingested. If you want to use Vitamin E look for Tocopheryl Acetate in your skin care products. Remember that not all the trends you are seeing are acne friendly! Biotins effects on the skin are still a mystery 🕵️ There is no scientific evidence but there is some evidence that it can lead to flare ups. 🫗Remember that not all of these are YOUR triggers. If your skin is not clearing and you are drinking any these then its time to eliminate them to see how your skin responds if you clear up then you know it was that. 💊We had a client that was clear for a few months and then started taking biotin and came back to us with flare ups. Once she stopped the biotin her skin went back to normal. Where you just as shocked about bloom? Clearing acne takes patience and consistency. Most of the times it gets worse before it gets better. Just trust the process 🫶 _ #acnefree #acnefighter #houstonacnetreatments #houstonacnetreatments #pearlandfacials

My skincare routine for inflamed acne and dark spots Fading dark spots that are left over from acne require tyrosinase inhibitors. These ingredients will tell the cell to chill out and stop producing the darker color. Using using vitamin c alone for dark spots may not be as successful because it does not have the ability to inhibit that pigment. Vitamin c will protect your cells and can brighten the skin overall. Now when your vitamin c comes with a peptide that is a tyrosinaise inhibitor than thats a while different ball game because now you are protecting your cells, getting anti aging benefits, brightening the skin but also correcting the cell thats producing that darker color 🥳🥳 And that's why we love the Koru Illumen Vitamin C + peptides! Evening out the skin tone takes time, trust the process 😘 - #houstonesthetician #houstonacnespecialists #pearlandesthetician #sugarlandesthetician #pearlandmoms

It's time to try these 3 tips Clearing acne is not a one step or overnight process. Somethimes we have to go through a process of elimination to find out what YOUR trigger is. You hear so many things online like wash your pillow cases, heal your gut, don't eat this don't that and the reality is that these triggers are under an umbrella. Most of the time not all of these things pertain to your specific case however there are things we address and test until we find what is it that is causing YOUR acne. I know clearing acne can be frustrating and confusing.
