Today is International Self-Care Day, an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the benefits of self-care on mental, emotional, and physical health.

International Self-Care Day is recognized each year on July 24 because maintaining our own health can be practiced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Congestive Heart Failure patients may be appropriate for hospice care if they:
- Are optimally treated for heart disease but are not candidates for or have declined surgery.
- Show signs of refractory edema.
- Meet NYHA Class IV criteria with significant heart failure or angina at rest.
- Have treatment-resistant arrhythmias, history of cardiac arrest, unexplained syncope, cardiogenic brain embolism, concomitant HIV disease, or an ejection fraction of 20% or less.
