🥳 Happy National Nonprofit Day 🥳

The Arc of Shelby County was founded in 1974 as an advocacy organization by a concerned group of parents in with the initial purpose to serve as a support for parents of children with intellectual disabilities.

We have grown from a small support group into an advocacy agency that has had direct contact with more than 1,500 children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families each year.

We are so thankful for the Shelby County community for their support over the last 50 years and are excited to celebrate this milestone with everyone.

August is National Golf Month - and it's a perfect time for us to showcase our New Visions participants who volunteered this past May at our Swinging Fore Achievement Golf Tournament. 🏌️

Our New Visions program services adult individuals with intellectual disabilities Our program participants are provided with opportunities to continue educational services that address their specific needs and increase their independence. The key component of our program is providing opportunities for inclusion and participation as active members of the community. Thank you to our New Visions participants for volunteering!!

Despite the heat, a great time was had by all at REACT's annual Summer Bash. We celebrated 50 years of The Arc of Shelby County! Thank you to all the staff and volunteers for assisting. Special thank you to Publix-Huntley Parkway for the cake and to the Alabaster Parks & Recreation for the pavilion. See you all in October!
