The latest from the NHC shows that Helene is now predicted to be a major hurricane at landfall, most likely somewhere along the Big Bend. Helene will be strengthening as it moves into the Gulf, and areas from PCB to the Big Bend need to prepare. The message for Cat Country is to stay aware and prepare for potential impact, in case of a wobble to the west. We will continue to keep you up to date.

TROPICAL UPDATE MODAY MORNING: We are continuing to monitor the broad area of low pressure in the Caribbean that is likely to become Helene over the next few days. This morning, we are starting to see model agreement with landfall happening Thursday somewhere in the Big Bend or Florida Panhandle. Changes in the track will continue to happen, but now is a good time to make sure you have all your supplies topped off and review your hurricane plan. The more eastern agreement would mean minimal impacts to our area. We will continue to monitor all model trends!
