PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, for the past several years the National Coalition for the Homeless and National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness have sponsored National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the proclamation is to educate the public about the many reasons people are hungry and homeless including the shortage of affordable housing in Santa Rosa County, Florida for very low income residents; and to encourage support for homeless assistance service providers as well as community service opportunities for students and school service organizations; and
WHEREAS, Opening Doors Northwest Florida, Inc.,including which includes many organizations, is committed to providing shelter, supportive services, meals and food supplies to the homeless; and
WHEREAS, the theme of “National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week” 2018 is, “Changing the way homeless is being addressed for those who are living, or close to living, without a home because everyone deserves a safe place to sleep at night”, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners recognizes that hunger and homelessness continue to be a serious problem for many individuals and families in Santa Rosa County.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Board of County Commissioners of Santa Rosa County, hereby proclaims November 10-18, 2018 as
NATIONAL HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK
And encourages all citizens to recognize that many people do not have housing and need support from citizens, and private/public nonprofit service

Okay ladies-We need overnight help for the women's shelter starting tonight, Friday 1/12/18. No one is responding, or volunteering for tonight as of yet...We do not want to close it down for lack of volunteer help. I can help, but I can't do it alone. Please-if you signed up to help overnight-we need you starting tonight. You will be blessed for doing so-I promise...any time we serve others, it is a blessing.
A big THANK YOU to all the members of the Coordinated Entry Working Group (including those not pictured) who have given their time over these last three months to improve our system of helping those in the community who are experiencing homelessness and are at risk of homelessness.
