On September 16, 2020 Hurricane Sally hit Pensacola. Although only maintaining a Category 2 status when it hit Pensacola, the hurricane was slow moving. Causing flooding and damage to Pensacola businesses and homes.

Hurricane Otis- Category 5 storm that made landfall in Acapulco on October 25, 2023.

NHC models and forecasts all missed this record-breaking intensification. Inland flooding (from rainfall) in weaker systems can also be very deadly, especially in areas already prone to flooding.
