Everytime Mrs Sara tells Tootsie to “place”, Tofu likes to show he can do that too!

We had a Match-making success!

Ollie’s awesome owners were looking for a second pup to open their home to so they filled out our Match-making form for help finding the perfect addition! After going on the hunt, we found this beautiful Husky at our local animal shelter, scheduled a meet and greet, and she got to go home yesterday after winning over both her new parents and Ollie! She does not have a new name yet as mom and dad want to get to know her more to make sure they pick out the perfect one. So far they have liked Kid and Regan - drop your name ideas below!

Starting your weekend off right with some AMAZING news - Stanley has been ADOPTED! 🎉

We couldn’t have asked for someone who loves Stanley more than his new dad!

Tofu has been the best ambassador thanking those who have donated towards our wishlist!

Today he got to meet Tyler Phillips with Octavius Real Estate when they brought a giant bag of kibble! Tofu LOVES to eat so he was super excited for the gift! Thank you so much, Tyler!

“Wait… why are we REALLY at the vet??” - Tofu, after realizing ‘neuter’ isn’t a new kind a treat. Our little cryptorchid is all medically set for his forever family now! Stay tuned for the sleepy dog pictures!

Tofu enjoyed some time downtown this morning at our ReviveK9 Dog Training: Pensacola Coffee & Canines pack walk! He got to say hi to a couple dogs and had the best time walking Palafox!

Tofu was out and about this Monday morning stealing hearts! We stopped to see our besties at Buzzed Brew Coffee and he got a pup cup too!

While Stanley and Tofu wait for their forever homes, their loving fosters have put together a wishlist of things for them! Of course food is on the list, as both boys came to us pretty skinny and they say they quite enjoy being healthy enough to play and adventure! Here at Candid Canine, we also provide training for our fosters while they are in our care, so the boys both requested some training tools to help them work on their skills to impress potential adopters and continue being the goodest of good boys.

Candid Canine is more than just an adoption agency. Our mission is to provide training to dogs in shelter and rescue care to increase their quality of life and adoptability, whether that be through private training or foster parent education. Often times, we specifically help with dogs struggling with behavior issues such as reactivity, kennel stress, and fear. These dogs often just need a little bit more structure and time than others, usually thriving as some of the best underdog stories. Our hope is that we can educate as many shelters, rescues, and foster homes as possible with our knowledge in order to help even more dogs, empower these essential roles, increase foster retention, and normalize balanced training in animal welfare organizations.

How can you help? Simply by sharing, and not just this post. Recruit other foster homes and volunteers, share our mission with organizations you work with, and just open up the conversation. And, as with any non-profit, donate - we don’t have many expenses but we hope to continue to expand and provide resources to those special dogs. At the moment, funds are used to provide for the dogs inn our care, training equipment, and our educational website.

Together, we can be the change - we just have to start the conversation.

Tofu 😍

He’s doing amazing in his training! He has learned sit, down, place, and heel along with kennel manners! His foster reports that Tofu LOVES his training, going on walks, and a good zoomie session. He’s so full of love for anyone and everything - including his forever family that we know is out there!

Our buddy Tofu had to take an impromptu visit to the vet for being sick last week. 🥺 But have no fear! He is feeling MUCH better after some meds, just a severe upset tummy.

His grand total ended up being $256.17.

In addition to looking for his forever home, Tofu is also looking for a side-job. LOL!

Tofu is looking for a foster!

He’s silly and playful as all young dogs are. He’s been fantastic in his kennel and doing decent with his leash skills. We are unsure how he is with cats and dogs as he’s healing from a skin infection right now, so he would need to be separated until cleared by the vet. He would love to come crash on your couch until he finds his own!

Stan is channeling his inner Irish and hoping he will get lucky this month in finding his forever home!

Stan is a 45 lbs., 1-2 year old fantastic pup who is loving life! He is house trained, kennel trained, and can walk well on a leash without distractions. He loves toys and chew bones. He gets along with his foster dog siblings and is learning how to love cats. Stan has also done well with meeting children!
Stan has been working through some mild leash reactivity to other dogs and doing well! He is also practicing sit, stay, down, come, and clean up (his favorite).

Meet Tofu!

Tofu is a sweet, silly 2 year old looking for his forever family or a foster! He was abandoned at a local park with a pile of food. He was so excited when a good samaritan showed him a leash and helped him out! Tofu has been very good in his temporary foster home. He has been awesome in his kennel and is getting better and better at leash skills. He loves belly rubs and snacks! Tofu is recovering from a skin infection so we do not know how he is with other dogs or animals yet.

We are happy to report that sweet Tallulah has found her forever home! Take a look at her and her new sister, Arya!

One of our board members found this cutie a couple weeks ago and no one has come forward to claim him despite various attempts to find is owners. So he’s a Candid Canine now! We are stumped on a name for him so we figured we would open it up to all of you for help! We’ll post better pictures as we get them.

This little diva is up for adoption!

Tallulah is 6 months old, dog and kid friendly, unknown about cats. She knows sit and is comfortable in her kennel and doing great with potty training. She was found off a rural highway and no one claimed her or recognized her in the area, so she’s been crashing at her finder’s house for a while. It’s time for her to find her forever couch and family!
