I condemn any attacks on candidates regarding their faith or ethnic background. I have recently seen attacks on Abraham Hamadeh using a private photo from his time on deployment with the US military. Questions about issues, policy, and character are part of a campaign. I don't believe that candidates should be attacked for their ethnic or faith background, especially when they have sworn an oath to protect and defend our Constitution and nation, as Abe has done.

For Peoria Mayor Jason Beck, The Trailhead is the latest example of bringing more economic development to the city. It comes weeks after he and the City Council unanimously approved a landmark deal with Amkor Technologies (https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/peoria/2024/02/21/peoria-amkor-ink-agreement-for-2-billion-semiconductor-testing-plant/72680775007/) to construct a $2 billion semiconductor packaging and testing facility.
The Trailhead, he continued, also presents more opportunities for Peoria families to work and shop locally.

“We need to ‘reshore’ our employees back home where they can spend more time in their commun
ity,” Beck said. “They spend more time with their families, and they can spend more money back in the circle of Peoria, which drives everything.”

As we step into the heart of 2024, I am filled with anticipation for the opportunities that lie ahead for the city of Peoria.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to the exciting future being built across Peoria. Reflecting on my first year as Mayor, I am proud to say that we have accomplished many of the incredible goals and milestones we sought to achieve as a city.

💧We invested in the future of Peoria’s Water.

This year, Peoria allocated nearly $170 million into securing its water future. This massive investment will go towards new wells, new reclaimed water lines, expansion of existing water treatment facilities, and other critical infrastructure to accommodate future growth.

Peoria’s water future has never been more secure.

🎓We invested in the future of Peoria's Education.

The overcrowding of local Peoria schools has been a long held concern for community members. This year, we announced that American Leadership Academy has begun the process to build a brand new K-12 school in North Peoria. Expected to open in the fall of 2025, the new campus will serve nearly 2,500 students.

💰We invested in the future of Peoria's Economic Development.

Driving future revenue to provide for our residents has been one of our top priorities as a city. This year, Amkor Technology announced that they are planning to build their advanced semiconductor packaging campus in Peoria. This is a $2 billion investment, expected to bring 2,000 jobs to our local community. Once completed, this will be the largest advanced semiconductor packaging and testing facility in the United States.

🚔We invested in the future of Peoria's Public Safety.

As Peoria continues to grow, so should our commitment to safety and security. This year, we invested heavily into a Regional Training Facility, a high-tech Real-Time Crime Center, and a brand new Helicopter to kickstart the West Valley's first advanced aviation unit.

All of this is a reflection of our commitment to protect our public safety officials and local communities.

Public safety and protecting our citizens is one of my top priorities to Realize Peoria’s Full Potential.

Peoria allocated $1.5 million for a state-of-the-art Police Mobile Command Vehicle. This investment is part of our commitment to ensuring that Peoria Law Enforcement has the innovative tools they need to protect our residents.

We also secured land for a Joint Public Safety Facility in North Peoria. The five-acre site will house a future fire station and police substation. The facility will support the public safety needs ahead of the planned growth in the area.

“The city of Peoria is finalizing a development agreement with Tempe-based Amkor Technology for the future location of their state-of-the-art advanced semiconductor packaging and testing campus.

We are proud of Peoria's global leadership in this movement that will produce semiconductors that are vital to our national security, the significant capital investment in our area, and quality jobs that it brings to our community. This tremendous announcement is a credit to the City Council's commitment to economic development, and staff's hard work and dedication on this project.

While the final details of the development agreement are still being worked out, this announcement will bring 2,000 jobs to Peoria, representing a $2 billion local investment.
Amkor’s plans for the Peoria facility will provide high volume, leading-edge technologies for advanced packaging and testing of semiconductors to support critical markets such as high-performance computing, automotive, and communications. The company announced preliminary details of the project earlier today.

The first phase of the manufacturing plant is targeted for production to begin within the next two to three years.

A final development agreement is scheduled to go before the City Council in early 2024.”

PBS: Mayor Jason Beck of Peoria recently visited war-torn Israel, touring areas devastated by the Hamas attacks. He described his experience in Israel as “hair-raising and humbling” and said he has seen “the worst of humanity.”
He is also the founder and CEO of Tyr Tactical, a body armor manufacturing company that donated dozens of protective vests and shields to the Israel Defense Forces. We welcomed Mayor Beck to Arizona Horizon to discuss the trip.

Mayor Beck visited Israel in early November and was there for eight days. He said he didn’t go as mayor, but instead as an individual.
“Every single person that I talked to, every single person that I went and had conversations with and sat down with were joyful that I was actually there,” Mayor Beck said. “They were joyful and actually very pleased that we were actually showing them support.”
Mayor Beck said most people who have gone to Israel during the conflict for a political nature are on the ground for less than 24 hours.

“They want to get in, take the photo-op, and get out,” Mayor Beck said. “They show support, in that nature, and I’d invite more people to do that, but I was there to actually try to make a difference.”

This was Mayor Beck’s sixth trip to Israel, including a trip last April that lasted 10 days.

“I have a deep love and respect for the Israeli people. Remember it’s not just the Jewish people who died on October 7; it’s also Jews, Christians and Arab Israelis that perished,”

Mayor Beck said. “It was very important for me to go over there and actually see what had transpired. It looked like a scene from ‘The Walking Dead,’ in a lot of ways.”

This past week I traveled to Israel to meet with and support IDF soldiers, political and religious leaders around the country.

I was fortunate enough to meet with the foreign secretary Eli Cohen, Rabbi Rabinovich of the Western Wall, and other Rabbis and Pastors that are working to make a difference around the country.

One of the most important reasons for me going was to visit the Kibbutz Be’eri which is the site of one of the most brutal massacres on October 7th.

It is my understanding that I was the first American to visit due to the continued threats in the area. I felt it was extremely important to tour Be’eri and provide an accurate accounting of the horror and the intensity of what took place at this location.

The lives that were taken, the extreme brutality of Hamas of how men, women and children were tortured, executed and slain is important for someone to take in and carry forward for others to experience and hopefully recognize these heinous acts that took place on these beautiful people.

In this video I have tried to remove some of the horrific images that I viewed, but it is extremely important to experience the visceral nature of what took place. This is my attempt to show that this can never happen again.

Children! 20 were tied and burned alive in front of their parents while they suffered a gruesome torturous death. Other children were cut apart, mutilate, hung in front of their brothers, sisters and family members.

Mothers were killed in front of their husbands after being tortured in front of their families, breast removed and in some cases chopped to pieces. This brutality has rarely been seen on this earth, and is something that the Israeli people should never have to endure again.

The hostages that were taken and are not known to be alive are being search for constantly by brave IDF soldiers. They are putting their lives on the line to bring home their countrymen.

To not support Israel’s ability to defend their people, home and lands from Hamas is to support terrorism and weakness that will surely spread across this world if it is not destroyed.

This is an accounting of the lives taken from Be’eri. It is also an accounting of the heroes that protected and saved others. I do not know how their stories will be told, but I am attempting to do my best to account for their lives.

Stand Up against the terrorist actions of Hamas! Stand Up and let your voice be heard against Anti-Semitism, Stand Up against the deniers, Stand Up for the last Democracy in the Middle East, Stand Up for Israel and it’s right to protect and defend its country!

Beck calls his experience in Israel hair-raising and humbling. He has been there since Monday and said what he is witnessing is the worst of humanity.

“We’ve had four rocket attacks since we’ve been here at this location. The Iron Dome has shot them all down from above us,” he said in a video he took. Beck is recording his first-hand account on the ground in Israel.

He took videos in Be’eri, one of the communities hit by Hamas on Oct. 7. “Children were tied up here and burned. Parents were killed. Grandparents were killed. They were slaughtered in cold blood in a very devastating way,” he said in that same video.

He said the country he loves and has visited five prior times, now looks like an eerie ghost town. “I consider myself a very tough man. This is one of those things that just shakes you to your core,” said Beck.

Mayor's Update: American Leadership Academy Coming to North Peoria

Since taking office, one of Peoria's greatest needs has been for a new school in the northern part of our city. Over that time, local and city leaders have worked tirelessly to develop a long-term, responsible solution. As a result, I am very excited to announce that Peoria is currently working through the pre-application site plan process with American Leadership Academy. American Leadership Academy will service 2,400 students grades K-12, which will greatly aid in relieving the overcrowding of our local PUSD schools. The campus will be located at the Vistancia Five North and will offer full educational curriculum, performing arts, and athletics.

The city and the Vistancia developer have always envisioned Vistancia as a potential location for a school, since the development began over 20 years ago, and I am excited to see this process underway. These are very important early steps to satisfy what our residents have long been asking for. It is incredibly rewarding to know that generations of new students will have another educational opportunity in their hometown. The goal is to have the campus open in the fall of 2025, pending further council action.

I’m both saddened and angry at what these acts of terrorism have done to the people of Israel.

I am taking action by sending body armor to Israel for the protection of the brave soldiers who will defend their homeland and our Western values.

The Biden administration should be ashamed of their recent actions that opened up funding to Iran. Iran is who has openly trained and funded Hamas and other affiliates that don’t recognize Israel’s right to exist. They seek to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.
