Phoenix Rising Desert Foothills 2012 Girls - Peoria

A memorable day to say the least. Although the girls came up on the wrong side of a 4-2 championship game today, the girls proved that they are truly champions regardless. After a slow start and falling behind 2-0 early, the girls battled back to make the game 2-1 and then continued to fight making the game 3-2 with about 10 minutes to go. The girls had a few opportunities to tie the game up but fell just short. Their continued perseverance and passion demonstrated throughout the game was inspiring and showed the true character of these girls. Better than the soccer itself was our end of the party that followed this championship game where our families came together and the girls were able to swim and hang out. Being around these girls and families highlights just how special and lucky we are to have all found each other. We are all fortunate to be a part of this team and have each other to play the sport we love. Congratulations on a great season girls. Next season preparation is right around the corner.

Onto the State Championship! The girls have continued their solid play and advanced to the State Championship this coming Sunday. The girls jumped out to a two goal lead in the first half of the semi-final tonight. In a back and forth second half, the girls were able to finish off a late penalty kick to secure the 3-0 victory. The girls have now secured their spot as one of the final two teams remaining in the state tournament with an opportunity to become state champions in two days time. We are so proud of you girls for your hard work and growth throughout the season. It is fun to watch it all culminate into success at the highest level. Over the first two weekends of the tournament, the Phoenix Rising Desert Foothills 2012 Girls Wolfe team emerged from arguably the toughest bracket in the State Champions Cup to advance into the quarterfinals. Facing one of the top teams in the state, the girls got out to an early three goal lead in the first half with stifling defense and a creative attack. The girls were able to battle through the hot conditions and see the game through to full time completing the 3-1 victory. The girls now head into the state semi-finals as one of the remaining final four teams vying for the championship. Well done and best of luck girls!

Onto the State Champions Cup Semifinals! The girls came out this afternoon and battled one of the top teams in the state in the quarterfinals. Jumping out to a three goal lead in the first half, the girls continued to fight and push through the hot conditions to finish off a 3-1 victory. In a tournament filled with the top teams in the state vying for the championship, the girls are one of the final four teams. The girls will look to continue their pursuit of a state title next Friday night in a semifinal matchup. Congratulations and good luck girls!

The girls have battled over the past two weekends to take second place in a very tough bracket to open the State Champions Cup. As a result, the girls are one of eight teams to advance out of group play and into the quarterfinals. This knockout stage of the tournament should prove to be exciting and challenging for the girls as they look to advance in the tournament. Congratulations girls and good luck moving forward.

We have not posted in a while as the season has been in full swing. The girls continue to work hard week in and week out since our last post in October. Since that time, the Wolfe team took first place in the CCV Stars Champions Cup playing up an age group. In that tournament, the girls outscored their opponents 18-0 and cruised to take home the championship. The Copa team took runner-up in the Del Sol Desert Classic after winning their bracket, but falling in a heartbreaker in the finals as the game went to PKs. As we head into the final month of the season, we are more than proud of the work and growth these girls have shown throughout the season.

This coming weekend our Copa team will compete in the Phoenix Rising Fall Classic at Bell Bank Park. The girls will start group play on Saturday with the goal of making the semi-finals Sunday morning. From there, the girls will look to take a spot in the championship game Sunday afternoon. The Wolfe team has an off weekend for rest, but will get back into league play next Sunday, November 6th. The girls are currently a game out of first place in the National Premier League and will look for a big win in next week's game.

Keep up the great work girls, you continue to make your coaches and parents proud of the outstanding people you are becoming as well as the growth you consistently show on the soccer field.

This past weekend was once again a successful experience for both of our teams. The Wolfe team opened up their league play as part of the National Premier League (NPL). The girls won their first game 4-1 on Saturday and then followed it up with another dominating performance in a 6-0 win on Sunday. The girls find themselves at the top of the table with those two wins and will resume league play on October 22nd. The Wolfe team will try to continue their hot start to the season (7-1 record) as they will take part in the highly competitive Arsenal Challenge next weekend.

Meanwhile, the Copa team took part in a competitive scrimmage at Paloma Park and battled until the end in a one goal contest this weekend. The girls continue to improve week in and week out as they begin to find their team chemistry on the field. The Copa team also held a team bonding experience on Sunday where all of our families and players were able to take time off the field to enjoy each other's company over some swimming and food. Our Copa team will have the upcoming weekend off before resuming league play on October 15th.

What a great opening weekend for both teams that comprise the Phoenix Rising Northwest Peoria girls. Both the Copa and Wolfe teams took part in the Phoenix Rising Cup over this Labor Day weekend at Reach 11. The Copa team, which is comprised of girls that were playing their first games together, showed hard work and resilience all weekend. Despite coming up on the wrong end of a couple of one goal games, the girls consistently showed growth in their ability to gel together as a team and put forth 100% effort at all times. The Wolfe team, playing in the top flight of the tournament against some top level competition, finished with a 3-1 record and took home second place overall in the tournament. These girls continue to prove that they are near the top in terms of talent for their age group and have their eyes set on the State Championship come season's end. Great job to both teams, keep up the good work.

Opening Weekend! We are so excited to kick off the 2022-2023 season this weekend at the Phoenix Rising Cup. The Wolfe team will be playing in a five team bracket where they will play all four teams in their flight in a round robin fashion. The Copa team will be in an eight team flight where they will first compete within their four team bracket, with a chance to qualify for a spot in the championship Sunday. This past Saturday the girls took part in the Phoenix Rising Futsal Kick-Off presented by NAU that was held in the top-notch facilities at Bell Bank Park. The girls did an excellent job playing in a different format of soccer as the hard work they put in over the summer was on full display. This was one of our pre-season events as we work towards our season start Labor Day weekend at the Phoenix Rising Cup. Keep up the hard work girls!

Last night officially kicked off the 2022-2023 season with our first practice of the year. It was great to get back to work as both teams are looking to have successful campaigns this season. Our Wolfe team was accepted into the National Premier League (NPL) within US Club Soccer and will compete at the highest level within Arizona. This team will try and capture the Arizona Champions Cup in April. Our Copa team was accepted into the highest division of the Arizona Developmental League (AZDL). These girls will be competing at a high level with the hopes of taking home the Arizona Community Cup at season's end in April. Best of luck this season girls!

Summer training kicked off last week as the girls worked indoors to practice their technical skills while also enjoying some games of futsal. We can already see the bonds forming between our new players with our returning players. As one, we will work together over the next two months to prepare ourselves for the upcoming season in U11. We want to thank all 31 girls and their families that made it to tryouts over the past week. We enjoyed meeting all the great families and had the privilege to observe some very talented girls on the soccer field. As we finalize our two rosters for this upcoming season, we are excited to get back to work this summer in preparation for a successful 2022-2023 season.

Tryouts for the 2012 Girls Northwest Peoria Team are coming soon! This great group of young ladies competed in the top division of Open League Play this fall going 4-1-1, while also taking home two two tournament championships playing in the top brackets of each. This spring, the girls have played up an age division in U11 and have taken home three runner-up finishes in tournament play.
