A few things to note:

We are so excited for school to start tomorrow! For Kindergarten parents - tomorrow (Aug 7) is the Woo Hoo breakfast for the families of kindergarteners at 8:00 AM! Quick reminder, though--THE BREAKFAST IS NOT FOR SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN, who will need to be in class. Families and younger siblings not yet in school are welcome to attend, though! We can't wait to see you there!

☀ Hey Apache Elementary! Our Top 5 countdown to the first day of school is back! Join us as we count down the final days of summer break and share with you the top five things you need to know for back to school!

📆 Today's Top 5 reminder is school calendars! The calendar for the 2024-25 school year is available on the district's website: www.peoriaunified.org/calendar. And remember - attendance counts! If you miss a minute, you miss a lot. Try to plan ahead when scheduling vacations so your child doesn't fall behind in their learning. Only five days until we get to see all our students back in class on Aug. 7! 🤩

To help our student get ready for their big day back, Peoria Firefighters Charities has partnered with The City of Peoria, Arizona Government for their 4th Annual Backpack Giveaway! Join us on Saturday, July 27 from 8 a.m. until supplies last at the Peoria Sports Complex.

🚒 This drive will directly benefit Peoria Unified School District students and teachers by providing backpacks, student supplies, teacher supplies, free vision checks and free hair cuts. Student must be present in order to receive supplies. We hope to see you there!

Welcome to our new Assistant Principal! 🤗

We are excited to welcome our new assistant principal to Apache!

My name is Allison Mooney, and I am so excited to join the Apache team as your assistant principal. I have been in education for 11 years. During that time, I taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grade math on a variety of campuses throughout the west valley and taught English as a second language in Taiwan for one year. In my experience, I have led my teacher teams to success through the development of strong lesson structures, engaging strategies, and data driven intervention. I also have a strong background in school culture improvement and student leadership. In 2016, my team and I created the House Program, “Four Houses, One Home” and helped implement it into several schools across the Peoria district, including Apache in December of 2019. I have served as a student council advisor and was awarded the Student Council Advisor of the Year Award in 2018. In 2019, I accepted the Pride of Peoria award for my work in school improvement. The Peoria Unified School District has been my home since I was four years old in the C.O.O.P program. I attended Desert Harbor Elementary School kindergarten through eighth grade and graduated from Centennial High School. I attended college at Northern Arizona University (Go Jacks!) and earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education and my master’s degree in educational leadership. I believe it takes the whole team to educate a child and I am so eager to start working with the families, teachers, and staff members at Apache to do what’s best for EVERY student on our campus.
