Yup, we are closed again today. The roads aren't good but the wind chill as low as -30 should keep us all inside.

Winter has officially settled in & the snow is on its way! With the forecast predicting snow and low temps for tomorrow, we may or may not be open. If you’re planning on coming by, give us a call before you head our way! If the weather is bad enough and we decide to close we will post here but if there’s nothing posted here, it still doesn’t hurt to call and check before braving the cold to make the trip. Everyone’s safety is our top priority, especially with Christmas just a few days away! We will do our best to keep updating tonight & tomorrow. The holidays are here and we know firsthand just how busy this time of year can be. With that in mind, we wanted to give you all a heads-up on the days we’ll be closed this holiday season so you can plan accordingly! Aside from our normal 9:30am-12pm schedule for Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve, we will be closed this Wednesday, November 23rd & Thursday, November 24th as well as closing at noon on December 3rd and closing for the day on December 10th & 17th. We appreciate every single one of our customers and hope you have a happy holidays, a merry Christmas to those who celebrate, and a very happy new year!

**Winter storm Thursday**

Heavy rain and strong winds will overspread Illinois tonight ahead of a strong storm system. We expect everyone to be in the 40s/50s/60s and to start out as rain. DO NOT THINK IT'S A BUST!

Rain will gradually change to freezing rain after midnight and be along the Illinois River by 6AM. MOST WILL WAKE UP TO NO SNOW/ICE THURSDAY AM! DON'T WAKE UP TOMORROW MORNING AND THINK IT'S A BUST!

Another round of precipitation will move north between 6-10AM Thursday AM and this will bring heavy snow north of I-72, freezing rain along I-72 and rain south. In the mid afternoon we expect the freezing rain line to drop to I-70 and snow along I-72. Heavy snow rates of 1-2"/hour and strong gusts of 30-40MPH will create near blizzard conditions. Travel is highly discouraged.

Given the colder, more snowy forecast; amounts of 3-8" are likely across central IL. With rates of 2"/hour in some spots possible, 8+ can't be ruled out in localized spots and we could increase amounts tonight.

Snow/ice will move out Thursday evening after 5-8PM. Model have backed off slightly on ice thankfully and trended more snowy. We expect a band of 1/10 to 1/15" in central IL, but local 1/4" amounts can't be ruled out. Anyone that sees 1/4" will run the risk of power outages as strong, gusty winds will be present.

Further south, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected. The storm prediction center has a slight risk for severe thunderstorms south of I-64. Main hazard is damaging winds with a brief tornado possible south of the Ohio River. Timing is 10AM-3PM Thursday.

With the extreme road conditions across the area due to the snow storm, we are still unsure whether we will be open tomorrow. Huge thanks to Roof Tiger and their whole crew for the fantastic job they did on our roof! If you’ve been out to pick up or drop off a machine, you may have spotted their trucks in our parking lot or even seen the guys up there hard at work! As soon as we called they were out right away to take a look and get the leaking areas tarped off. They communicated with us on every step & made sure the process was as smooth as possible. Jones Sewing Machine Company was having major leaks on the flat portion of their roof. One call to our team and we quickly tarped off the problem areas to stop the leaks. A few weeks later, we replaced the 5,000 square feet roof with a brand new rubber membrane and underlayment.
