Please join us in welcoming a new dentist to Donlan Sudholt Dental, Dr. Kate (Donlan) Shadid, DMD.

Dr. Kate is an alumnus of Peoria Notre Dame and Bradley University and graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry.

Dr. Kate is proud to be following in her family's footsteps as a third generation dentist. She is continuing a family legacy of dedicated dental care alongside her dad, Dr. John Donlan.

Dr. Kate will be seeing patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We are excited to have Dr. Kate as a new member of our team and practice family.

In honor of Children's Dental Health Month we are offering ways to make dental health a family priority 😁

🦷Parents/caregivers should help children brush their teeth until they have the skills to do it alone - which usually occurs around age 8

🦷Model healthy habits by brushing and flossing your kid's teeth before they practice themselves

🦷Brush and floss your own teeth with your kids! When children see healthy habits, they are more likely to develop those habits themselves

🦷Let your child accompany you to a dental cleaning appointment prior to their first dental visit. This will help ease the anxiety of the unknown

Wow that was cold 🥶 and we're not talking about the weather 🦷 Common tooth sensitivity from cold could be due to a number of things including enamel wear and gum recession. Try these tips to reduce sensitivity
- Always use a soft or electric toothbrush
- Use a fluoridated sensitivity toothpaste with the ingredient potassium nitrate regularly
- Avoid whitening toothpaste or whitening products
- Floss daily to avoid gum recession
- Drink cold liquids through a straw
- See your dental care provider should anything persist for longer than 2 weeks
