To all of the teams/families/fans playing in, supporting and cheering at the Brad Wallin Memorial Tournament this weekend, you have thousands upon thousands of children/parents/siblings/grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins/friends/communities who THANK YOU! ❤️👏🤗⚾️ This local baseball tournament, raises money for St. Jude children with cancer year after year! ✨️

⚾️ Brad Wallin's parents, Jeff and Lori Wallin, started the Brad Wallin Memorial Baseball Tournament in 2005 to honor their son, Bradley R. Wallin, who died from osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in 2004 at the age of 11.

⚾️ The tournament hosted 10 teams the first year and has grown to currently hosting 354 teams from Illinois and surrounding states participating in eight age divisions: 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, 13u, 14u, 15u! 😮🥲👏

⚾️ Proceeds from this tournament go to St. Jude Children's hospital and will be presented at the annual St. Jude Telethon in Peoria on July 20.

⚾️ How VERY special that one of the largest baseball tournaments IN THE NATION is held right HERE in the Chillicothe/Peoria area 🥰.

⚾️ The teams "Plaaaay Ballll!!" on various fields including CEC Jr. High, Dunlap North Park, Eastside Centre, IVC High School, Lacon Park District, Morton Westwood Park, Mossville, Rome Fields, and Shore Acres Park.

⚾️ Goodluck to all of the teams this year!! Play hard and HAVE FUN!!!!!

There was a residence that was burglarized last night in the 2000 Block of W. Moss in West Peoria. During this burglary a 4 month old black mini golden doodle (named Phoenix) was taken. Phoenix was wearing a pink and teal collar. If anyone has any information on the burglary and where Phoenix is please call the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Yesterday we learned how critical CPR and first aid training is. Particularly for rural communities! Preforming CPR until help arrives can mean life or death. Small towns rely on volunteers to operate their fire departments which cover big areas. The time it takes for those volunteers to get to the scene is critical and having someone do CPR to pump blood/oxygen throughout the body until help arrives can make all the difference for that person.
