Kate McLaughlin, is one of the owners (along with her husband John and “the accidental hatter”, Steve) and visionaries at McLaughlin & Hayes Millinery right here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! In her atelier, she has created some of my absolute favorite pieces and ignited a new passion/or obsession within me.

What a fabulous week in Albuquerque, New Mexico spent with my new fellow millinery friend learning the innovative techniques in creating beautiful, timeless beaver and rabbit felt hats. Thank you Jessi, owner of Grey Collective Hats for a fantastic immersion in hat making!
Just a little medical grade adhesive will do the trick for whatever life throws at you!
This….I’m crazy over this new adventure in hat making, McLaughlin & Hayes Millinery is by far the best! (Back story, my husband had given me a gift of a millinery class at Christmas. What a fabulous craft! It has been bit of a much needed distraction from my first love, wig making. This is a new hobby of sorts. (As if I needed another thing to add to my world. Though he was right, I fell in love!)
Little did he know I would be seeking so many workshops all over the country to fill the creative outlet!
Thank you to Kate, (one of the owners) for her inspiration and patience and for a fantastic class! To John and Steve, you both are next on my list to dive into Western, Pencil Brim, Fedoras, Pork Pie, Boater, Trilby and more!! Yes, I am hooked! I found there’s a huge overlap, with my wig making skills, sewing, steaming and most of all creativity. I believe everyone can wear hats! Adorning your beautiful silhouette, it’s all about complementing the face shape, color tone and most of all bringing out your unique personality!
There are few true “old school” millineries left, McLaughlin & Hayes are one of the hidden gems of passion and talent…. right in here in Milwaukee! Take a trip and invest in a beautiful custom designed piece from their atelier, you will be amazed! ❤️

Happy Monday my friends! I’m in need of help for a dear client, by the way, she is not the only one in the situation…
Does anyone have any ideas or a sink that could help us wash a clients hair that is in a power chair? (The headrest is not removable and is wide in the back. (See picture.) Think outside the box!! I need to be able to service all situations, helping someone in a power chair feel beautiful is high on the list!!
