Aquarium Highlights

Room 502 was able to see Scuba Santa on our visit to the aquarium!

Room 502 had a visitor!!!

Room 502 is learning about leaves, examining, experimenting, and collecting data.

Miguel told me we were twins and we had to get a selfie…then the rest of the students in maroon wanted a picture with me too!

Golden delicious apples were the overwhelming favorite! Yum!

We taste tested 3 kinds of apples today to celebrate John Chapman’s birthday! Happy birthday Johnny Appleseed!

Imagine your whole class coming in with flowers! This morning I was given flowers at the door as students came in; I had a beautiful pink and red bouquet for my birthday! This class makes me feel so loved!!

Our class won the Friday trivia question! Our reward allowed each student to enjoy a bag of popcorn and a soft serve cone! 502 is the happiest classroom!

Hey Smarties! I'm back! It's so good to have electricity again! That storm on Wednesday was terrible.

Today I am working one on one with Cinar, Evyyn, Lydia, Mia, and Vinnie. Next week we will be back to groups, but I will also have one on one meet ups with anyone I didn't meet with this week.

Welcome back! Happy Monday 502! If I did not private message you, you will not have a Zoom today. I am asking that each student continue to work on a page from each packet and work on Rocket Spelling and Raz Kids.

I am sure we are all looking forward to no more zoom schedules for the summer! This week I am going to meet with each student for their own zoom, to be able to get a more accurate profile for their 2nd grade portfolios. It is much easier to do that one on one.

If you would like to schedule a Zoom for Tuesday or Wednesday, and you have a specific time that your child will be alert and receptive, please text me the time and day that best work for you. I am not available from 11:30am to 1pm. I can do evening Zooms if that works better too. If I do not get a text from you I will call you to arrange a time.

On another note, this weekend was heart-breaking and difficult for so many. I bring this up because my children do what most kids do, they watch YouTube, and chat with friends through texts, etc. Because I limit my children's access to news, they discovered the unfolding events through friends and through shared videos...which triggered fear. Fear for their friends, classmates, and our family members of color, and for law enforcement... (and for my older kids, the country as a whole).

I am not mentioning any of this to share my beliefs, I am sharing this because if your child is having trouble dealing with current events, please let me know. I will put you in touch with Mrs. Connearney, our guidance counselor. She is still available for students, and she has such a gentle way of getting students to discuss, evaluate, and deal with their feelings. Please don't hesitate to ask. As parents, we often don't know all of the answers, and a lot of the time we aren't aware of the resources available to help our children navigate through their emotions. So reach out, and I will gladly get her in touch with you.
