Empirical Pediatric Therapy is seeking peer buddies to volunteer in our program as social models. We are currently seeking peer buddies ranging in age from 4 to 13 years old. Peer buddies participate in our social skills groups just as the other participants do. They are there to provide a model of age-appropriate social behavior by playing and interacting with other children in a natural, play-based setting. In addition to helping other children develop social skills, peer buddies benefit from the altruistic experience of promoting social inclusion within our community, all while having fun! If your child may be interested in volunteering as a peer buddy, please contact [email protected] to schedule an informal meet & greet.

SOCIAL SKILLS GROUPS. We offer evidence-based, therapist facilitated social skills groups. We strive to form groups that are age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate. Unique goals are set for each child, taking into consideration parental priorities. Each session, the therapist plans fun and engaging activities for the children that provide opportunities to develop skills such as sharing, turn taking, and peer communication. Data are collected on goals during social skills groups to ensure that each child is making progress. The data are shared with parents, along with recommendations for carrying-over skills at home and in the community.
