Come by the Chestnut Hill Library this evening to hear the West Philadelphia Orchestra! is a high energy group inspired by the brass band traditions of Eastern Europe. The program will feature Klezmer and Romani music, with Yiddish, musical history, and dancing mixed in.
And we're excited to announce that we are bringing Warren Orree and the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble back to the Library, too. They will be performing on October 29th at 5:15pm.

We will be kicking off our Fall poetry series this Saturday, September 21st with three talented local poets. Readings will take place in the backyard of Hilltop Books but will move indoors in the case of bad weather.
Accessibility note: There are several steps to enter the backyard and store.
Darla Himeles (they/she) is a Philadelphia-based poet and an assistant teaching professor at Widener University. They are the author of the chapbook Flesh Enough and the full-length poetry collection Cleave, both published by Get Fresh Books. Her poems and essays have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net and can be read in recent and forthcoming issues of Beloit Poetry Journal, The Gay & Le***an Review, The Massachusetts Review, The Night Heron Barks, Honey Literary, and American Poetry Review. They hold an AB in English from Bryn Mawr College, an MFA in poetry and poetry in translation from Drew University, and a PhD in American literature from Temple University. Christina Rosso (she/they) is a writer, educator, and bookstore owner living outside of Philadelphia with her bearded husband and rescue pups. She is the author of CREOLE CONJURE (Maudlin House, 2021) and SHE IS A BEAST (APEP Publications, 2020). Their writing has been nominated for Best of the Net, Best Small Fictions, and the Pushcart Prize. Since 2018, Christina has co-owned and operated A Novel Idea on Passyunk, an independent bookstore and event space.
