ALERT: Call Scam Targeting MAFP Patients
This past week, we were alerted to some patients receiving calls that looked like they were coming from our office number. The callers even introduced themselves as calling from Mount Airy Family Practice. They then asked our patients for their Medicare information (ID numbers, etc.). When told that the patient would need to look for the numbers, the callers said that they could hang up and the patients could call back on a private number.
Mount Airy Family Practice will NOT call to ask for your Medicare information over the phone.
If you get a call that looks like it's from our office asking for Medicare account information, please hang up immediately.
If you suspect that you're receiving a call like this, but want to make sure that it is our office calling you, hang up and call our office at (215) 848-6880.
Thank you to our patients who brought this to our attention. We apologize for any confusion, and hope that you all keep your information safe!
ALERT: We are currently without power. We are doing everything that we can for our patients coming in this morning. We apologize for the inconvenience. PECO hopes that our power will be restored by 9:30am.
No matter where you are on your health journey, a healthier life is possible. Live to the beat of your own heart and prevent cardiovascular disease on your terms. Learn more about how to Live to the Beat this Heart Month.
Live to the Beat Better heart health doesn’t have to take big changes. It just takes a little heart.
Before the end of the year, make sure that you've gotten your necessary tests and check-ups!
Make an appointment to get your mammogram or colon cancer screening through our office. Ask your medical provider if you’re eligible or due for a screening.
For colon cancer screenings, our office provides fit tests.
Flu & COVID-19 Vaccine Reminder:
Flu season is upon us! Get your flu shot today. Remember, the flu shot will help reduce the impact of symptoms, even if you end up getting a strain of flu not directly covered by the vaccine.
MAFP continues to recommend the COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Unfortunately, we do not have our own supply of the vaccines, so we recommend that you contact your nearest pharmacy to request one.
The holiday season is coming into full swing, and MAFP’s offices will have the following special hours over the next few weeks:
Thanksgiving, 2022:
MAFP’s office will be closed on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will be open on Saturday, November 26.
MAFP Staff Celebration:
On December 8, MAFP will close the office after 1pm for our staff end-of-year celebration.
We loved seeing all of the costumes in the office today. Have a safe and healthy Halloween!
Starting tomorrow, October 1, we have in-person Saturday hours again! We will have appointments from 8am to 12pm on Saturdays.
We're also doing our flu shot clinics by appointment on Saturdays in October. Get your flu shot today!
We wish everyone a safe and healthy Labor Day Weekend!
Our office will be closed on Monday, September 5, and will reopen on Tuesday, September 6. Our on-call services will be available while the office is closed.
MAFP IS OPEN DURING ROAD WORK: We apologize for the ongoing inconvenience of the road work taking place around our office. Parking is limited near the office. Sidewalks are open, although the intersections may be tough for some to maneuver. Please exercise caution.
As the summer starts and more activities take place, we are preparing for increased numbers of COVID-19 infections. If you test positive for COVID-19, please stay home and monitor your symptoms. Call us if the symptoms become serious, but before that happens, there are steps that you can follow to take care of yourself:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/steps-when-sick.html
COVID-19 and Your Health Symptoms, testing, what to do if sick, daily activities, and more.
MAFP is open!
There is, however, street construction around our office. Please note that parking will be limited right by our office, so you may need to walk a couple of blocks. We apologize for the inconvenience.
JUNE 1: There is construction in front of our office: Carpenter Lane is closed, as is Wayne Avenue heading eastbound (from the west). Wayne Avenue is open from the east (heading towards Lincoln Drive).
There is a "Road Closed" sign at Wayne and Westview, but our patients have permission to go around that and park on Wayne Avenue up to Carpenter Lane. Wayne Avenue is closed from the west at Sedgwick and cannot be traversed.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Small lifestyle changes, however, can help reduce your blood sugar levels, and improve your health overall! Speak to one of our medical providers if you want to make a more drastic change in your diet or exercise regimen.

Many of us have received a COVID-19 vaccine, and MAFP strongly recommends that all eligible individuals receive a vaccine. Remember, though, that being vaccinated doesn't mean that we absolutely cannot get sick: this vaccine protects us from getting VERY sick from COVID-19 and from ending up in the hospital. Let's do our part to protect ourselves and each other.

I Got A 'Mild' Breakthrough Case. Here's What I Wish I'd Known After a year and a half of being COVID-cautious, a fully vaccinated health journalist thought he could finally travel and socialize this summer. The resulting illness didn't feel "mild" at all.
Big News from MAFP! Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ku**er, who recently welcomed a new addition to her family! She will be on leave for 12 weeks. Which leads us to another big announcement:
Welcome to Dr. Linda Good (pictured here), who will be joining us temporarily while Dr. Ku**er is on leave! Linda W. Good, MD, retired after 28 years as a founding partner and provider at MAFP. She discovered that she was not ready for retirement and most recently, has worked throughout the pandemic as a front-line caregiver. She is especially looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the medical office that she knows and loves.
Not sure about getting the flu shot? Here are some common misconceptions about it.
MAFP strongly recommends that all eligible individuals get the flu shot. We will be holding flu shot clinics soon - we'll post information about them here when we get them set up!
