I've been redistributing resources through poshmark since I do estate clearouts, and as a way of making some supplemental income. If you see something you like, feel free to make me an offer! I accept most offers. Only one person so far has ever offered more than the asking price lol but it is a fundraiser in case you feel like it! https://poshmark.com/closet/identitygarden more special sparkly kitten and rainbow type links nested in the comments below

NYFTDI | New York Film & Television For Diversity And Inclusion 02/22/2024

I'm glad to be part of the Mentor cohort with https://www.nyftdi.org this season!
Looking forward to more solidarity and new directions.

I'm still looking for employment (plz send info my way!)
In the meantime I'm opening my books for a handful of consultation sessions. I am scheduling now through March.

$50 for a half hour consultation on the topic of your choosing, and a follow up email assessment with topical resources.
Thanks to folks who have been encouraging me to do more of this.

I have done virtual wardrobe consulting and styling this way as well.

*TODAY* I have the opportunity to attend a Union Townhall and I need a few more funds to bring my account up to date.
Please get in touch if you can help with that, thanks!

The Invitation
It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon...
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know
if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.
I want to know
if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations
of being human.
It doesn’t interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know
if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”
It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live
or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.
It doesn’t interest me
who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.
It doesn’t interest me
where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know
what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.
I want to know
if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like
the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Respectfully,
it's time to admit that it's unlikely I'll land a job before the new year.
Although it's *not* the ideal time to be making this post,
it's unavoidable, once again to request funds.
This autumn, many of you gave me the opportunity to collect my remaining original works, and pack them, protected.
Over the next few weeks I'll be working on updating my portfolio and preparing for a professional review.
I'll also be working on a few headshots for updated applications.
What I really need, moving into the next year,
in order to focus on the job acquisition, to avoid serious financial consequences, and to take care of my health and Stella's:
$2500 for the remainder of December and January.
High hopes that I have better opportunities for income by then, and a better way of presenting myself and my skills.
I'm sorry to keep doing this, and I don't have other options.
If you're able to share with me this season,
you know I'll always be grateful and I'll be paying it back and forward as soon as I'm back on my feet, finally.

Do you know about Madam Walker? If not, watch the series Self Made on Netflix. Link in comments below.

Maggie Lena Walker, the daughter of a former slave and cook, was the first woman to charter a bank in the United States in 1902. The bank offered loans and mortgages to black residents of Richmond, Virginia who were otherwise denied service by white-owned banks.

A year later she started a department store allowing black customers to shop with dignity: To enter through the main doors instead of a side entrance, to try on clothing before buying, and to eat at lunch counters. Her store displayed clothing on brown-skinned mannequins and hired exclusively black women to work as clerks.

Later the same year, Walker utilized her newspaper to urge Richmond residents to boycott the city’s segregated streetcar system. The boycott was so effective the company operating the street cars declared bankruptcy two months later.
