St. Joseph's Prep
The mission of St.
Joseph’s Prep as a Catholic, Jesuit, urban, college preparatory school is to develop the minds, hearts, souls, and characters of young men in their pursuit of becoming men for and with others.
Today as the Season of Creation begins, we invite you to pray with us. This monthlong annual celebration of prayer and action for our common home ends on October 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. http://ow.ly/wFkr50KxKon 🙏
The WSJP student broadcasting team had a wonderful trip traveling to Cleveland to cover Prep Football:
Thanks to Prep Trustee Nick Howley ‘70 and the Lake Erie Crushers, the crew got the chance to go behind the scenes of a minor league baseball team, including meeting the team’s president and broadcaster and watching him do an inning from the booth.
Again, thanks to Mr. Howley and the , the crew got a chance to meet a PR professional and tour the studios at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Thanks to St. Joseph's Prep Football, the crew went to watch team practice at the Browns Training Complex and then broadcast a season preview show live from Pinstripes during the annual team dinner.
Finally, the game! Prep Football’s season opener vs. St. Edward’s in Lakewood, Ohio.
Thank you to Athletics, Football, and Student Activities for this incredible opportunity.

Prep trustee Nick Howley ‘70 spoke to the Football Team after their practice at the Browns Training Center today. Howley, a former football captain and all Catholic player, lives in Cleveland and is one of the school’s biggest supporters.
Nick told his Prep brothers that it takes more than talent for success: “you have to use your smarts and you have to work hard. That is the recipe.”
He ended with “beat St. Ed’s and Go Prep!”
Thank you to Kevin Stefanski ‘00 for allowing Prep Football to practice at the Browns Training Facility in Berea today before the team’s game vs. St. Edward’s.
Great to see our young alumni staying connected to their Prep and their Prep brothers!
We love working with our friends at Gesu School on all things but especially this great back to school celebration!
Last night we hosted and families at our annual BBQ and Night at the Phillies. We can’t wait to welcome them to campus next Tuesday!
Today we welcomed faculty and staff back with a day of recollection. This summer, all were encouraged to send in a photo that reflects how they live the Jesuits’ Universal Apostolic Preferences. Today, we discussed those photos and the stories behind them. We talked about the journeys that all at the Prep are on, including the students we will be seeing next week. Continuing the journey theme, the group broke off for Emmaus Walks around the neighborhood. In addition, Fr. Surovick celebrated Mass for all in the Church of the Gesu.
Faculty/Staff meetings continue tomorrow and Thursday before we welcome freshmen next Tuesday and the remainder of the students on Wednesday. We look forward to getting the 2024-25 school year going!
