Great work by Ofc. Forest and his fellow South Street officers!
Last night while conducting a “park and walk” on the 100 block of South Street, the officer observed a vehicle illegally parked. Inside of the vehicle in plain sight was approximately 150 bags of alleged he**in, two sandwich bags of alleged ma*****na and a scale. Officers coordinated with each other to keep eyes on the vehicle. An individual later exited a club and entered the vehicle at which point an investigatory detention was conducted and the individual was placed under arrest with the narcotics recovered by police.
Thank you officers for getting these drugs off of our streets!
There are a lot of great things happening in the South Police Division under the leadership of Inspector Matthew Gillespie.
A new Retail Theft Initiative is underway which includes collaboration between law enforcement and other government agencies, increased communication between police and retailers and coordination between community stakeholders and business leaders.
As part of the South Division Retail Theft Initiative and crime prevention strategy, Police Security Log books along with these signs will be distributed to any business or establishment that chooses to participate in the program.
Log books will be regularly signed at random by officers and supervisors in the division. This serves to not only deter thieves and robbers but to build relationships in our communities!
