This week's newsletter is on our HO scale EMD GP38-2! Constructed between 1972 and 1986, the GP38-2 was one of EMD’s most successful diesel-electric road switchers. Featuring many of the same hallmarks found on other EMD road switchers, the type was the successor to the standard GP38, featuring modernized electronics and an updated prime mover. The GP38-2 was a firm favorite of many railroads both large and small, thanks to its reliability and standardized design, which allowed for ease of maintenance. More than 1,700 units were delivered to railroads across North America, in addition to export examples, and most remain in freight service to this day.

This week's newsletter is all about the GE Dash 8-40CW!

Entering service in 1989, the Dash 8-40CW was the first General Electric road diesel to feature the North American Safety Cab (also known as the wide-cab design), now a standard feature on modern freight locomotives. Between this revolutionary new cab style and other spotting features, the Dash 8 would pave the way for General Electric to become the most successful freight locomotive manufacturer of the 1990s and 2000s, with all subsequent GE locomotives adopting a similar appearance.

For this week's : A first look at the new paint schemes for our HO Scale GP40s with DCC on Board®!

Constructed between 1965 and 1971, the four-axle GP40 was one of the earliest EMD locomotives from the Second Generation era, and remarkably, it continues to be found in operation today. Built to replace the previously offered GP35 series, the GP40 was designed with versatility in mind, being equally efficient at yard work, industrial operations, and light road duties. A staggering 1,221 units were produced for railroads across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, using mostly standardized components (for ease of maintenance) unless directed otherwise by the purchaser. With these easy to use and affordable locomotives, you can digitally control speed, lighting, and direction. Compatible with all NMRA-compliant DCC systems.

This weeks newsletter is all about the HO Scale GE 44 Tonner! Built between 1940 and 1956, the General Electric 44-Ton Switcher was designed to replace steam locomotives in light freight duties, primarily finding use as yard switchers for class one railroads and industrial complexes. Among only a handful of locomotives permitted to operate with a single-person crew under common carrier regulations, the 44-Ton was also an appealing choice for shortlines. The reliability of the type ensured their longevity, and many can still be found in operation today, both on tourist railroads and in revenue service.
