Kate Abercrombie on the myth of the wandering womb, which she addresses in two of the paintings in her current show. "I’ve thought a lot about it because it was more commonly associated with women who never married or had children and anxiety. These false ideas about women's health, sexuality, and roles in society persist but my impetus for making this work is not to just depict a historical idea but rather, I’m concerned with how the idea exists in the present."
